The 134'6" motor yacht Batavia was delivered to her owners in 2004 by Sovereign Yachts. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Setzer Design Group, while Deus Design is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • Skylounge bar and lounge
  • Tri-deck with fishing cockpit
  • 2,000nm range at 12 knots
  • Eight-person sundeck hot tub

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement composite hull and superstructure she features a 27'8" beam and a 6'10" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 371 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Her exterior styling is characterised by a high bow and elegantly curved superstructure, paired with three levels of fully teak-laid decks (or four, including the dedicated fishing cockpit). The hull, constructed from cored GRP, is wrapped by a single, continuous deck line from aft to forward sections, including a Portuguese bridge that leads to a private seating area at the bow.

The upper deck makes use of its full beam to provide a sun lounge aft and protected guest areas. The sun deck functions as a social hub, with a helm station, an eight-person hot tub, open seating, and stowage space for the Novurania tender and Circa davit crane. Further relaxation can be found aft of the bridge deck, where a circular ten-seat dining table sits beside a barbecue and a long bench set along the rail.

Meanwhile, the main deck aft features a split-centre table surrounded by curved seating. Just below, the fishing cockpit includes bait tanks (one a live aquarium), long underfloor freezers, and space for dive prep and watersports. Large tenders are split between the sun deck and a forward locker, keeping all toys secure and deck areas open for use at anchor.

BATAVIA’s deck spaces adapt beautifully to every occasion, from fishing trips to sunset cocktails.

Interior Design

The main deck is arranged for entertaining, with plush lounges and a formal dining space that flows naturally onto the aft deck. The décor features sapele and pommele woodwork with ebony inlays, fluted columns, and marble-topped cabinetry. These rich finishes are balanced with light-toned carpets, off-white upholstery, and white simulated-leather ceilings, which help draw daylight from the yacht’s oversized windows.

The upper deck houses the skylounge, which includes a bar and ample custom seating, with an adjacent entertainment system built around a 42in flat-screen television and games table - an ideal setup for evening gatherings. The wheelhouse forward is equipped with advanced navigation electronics, including Furuno’s NAVnet suite, two radars, Robertson autopilot, and comprehensive radio systems. A half-oval guest seating area in leather wraps behind the helm, while just aft, the captain’s cabin to port and ship’s office to starboard complete the bridge area.

The galley, located midships on the main deck, is outfitted with granite countertops and premium appliances, including Kitchenmaid equipment. There is a separate crew servery and dedicated mess space on the lower deck. Crew support areas also include a practical laundry with granite worktops and a folding ironing board.

Accommodation

BATAVIA accommodates 10 guests across five luxurious staterooms. The full-beam master suite is located forward on the main deck and includes a private office, his-and-hers walk-in closets lined in cedar, and a centrepiece bedroom facing a large television that retracts behind a painting when not in use. The ensuite is split into two identical bathrooms, joined by a central shared shower and finished in granite and marble.

On the lower deck, four guest staterooms - two doubles aft and two forward (double and twin) - each have private ensuites with showers. Daylight filters through multiple portlights, and each cabin includes a 21in flat-screen television and DVD player. A marble-floored foyer with suitcase storage and a guest-use washer/dryer rounds out the lower accommodation area.

Crew quarters are located forward and behind the wheelhouse. Below deck are two twin-bunk cabins and a large engineer’s cabin with single and double berths. All are fitted with good-sized ensuite shower rooms. The captain’s cabin behind the bridge benefits from exceptional views and direct access to operational areas. Overall, BATAVIA can carry a total of up to 7 crew.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 4000 M90) 2,775hp engines, motor yacht Batavia is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 8,771 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Whether you're hosting or heading out, BATAVIA makes a strong impression without ever shouting for attention.
