Delivered in 1974, AF is a 25m classic yacht for sale built by Italian shipyard Benetti. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Luca Catino.
Key Features
- 63m² flybridge deck
- Luca Catino redesign
- 2,000nm cruising range
- Traditional canoe stern profile
Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 5.55m beam and a 2.8m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 121 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
AF keeps the long, understated profile of a classic Benetti canoe stern yacht while bringing the detailing into a cleaner, more current direction through her rebuild at MCS Shipyard in Imperia. Originally launched in 1973, the 25.6m (84ft) yacht still carries the proportions and balance that made these early Benetti designs so enduring, with a gently tapering stern, low superstructure, and uncluttered deck lines that feel very different from modern production yachts.
Luca Catino handled the redesign, carefully updating the yacht without stripping away her original identity. The hull retains its traditional displacement form, and the canoe stern remains the defining visual feature aft. Large side windows and new glazing treatments introduce more natural light into the interior while helping lighten the yacht’s overall appearance.
One of the standout exterior spaces is the 63m² (678ft²) flybridge. The deck stretches almost the full length of the upper structure, creating unusually generous outdoor volume for a yacht of this size. From the renderings, the layout balances open lounging areas with shaded seating around the helm, while the tender is positioned aft to keep the guest areas clear.
The main deck aft continues the classic feel with rounded stern sections and teak detailing, and wide side decks run forward toward a simple foredeck arrangement that keeps the yacht practical and easy to move around while under way.
Interior Design
The rebuild shifts AF’s interior away from the darker, heavier styling often associated with older yachts of this era. Luca Catino’s redesign introduces a much lighter palette with pale timber finishes, soft neutral fabrics, and cleaner architectural lines while still respecting the yacht’s original character.
The salon has a calm, open feel helped by large windows on both sides and minimal visual separation between the lounge and dining areas. Built-in cabinetry runs along the windows, keeping storage integrated into the structure rather than dominating the room. Light oak-style finishes contrast against darker flooring, while stainless accents and simple detailing avoid making the space feel overly traditional.
The overall approach feels deliberately restrained. Rather than trying to turn AF into a contemporary white-box interior, the redesign keeps some warmth and softness associated with classic yachts while improving light levels and circulation throughout the guest spaces.
Accommodation
AF accommodates up to six guests across three staterooms, along with quarters for three crew members.
The layout prioritises volume over cabin count, so each guest cabin benefits from more usable space than many yachts in this size bracket. The rebuilt interiors continue the same light contemporary styling seen in the main salon, with soft neutral tones, pale timber finishes, and updated furnishings replacing the heavier decorative styles often found aboard older classic yachts.
Crew accommodation is separated from the guest areas to support longer cruising periods with a more practical operational setup.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel GM (8V71N) engines, motor yacht AF is capable of reaching a top speed of 12 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 17,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,600 nautical miles at 10 knots.
