As the former editor of Motor Boat & Yachting, Europe's longest-established and most authoritative motorboating magazine, Andreae is a leading figure in marine journalism. He brings deep industry knowledge and his appointment strengthens YachtBuyer’s editorial authority as we continue to grow our international platform.
Andreae officially takes up the role on October 27, just ahead of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2026.
Welcome to the team, Hugo.
Hugo Andreae Looks Ahead to His New Role at YachtBuyer
For Hugo, the decision to join YachtBuyer was driven by the opportunity to help shape the platform's editorial future and develop the work already underway. As Editor-in-Chief, he will oversee our independent yacht reviews, on-water testing, video coverage and market reporting, helping to develop more detailed assessments and expert commentary.
What particularly attracted me is the strength of what has already been built - a talented team, high-quality content and an extraordinary depth of yacht data and technology.

"I'm looking forward to developing even more in-depth testing, comparisons, insight and informed opinion that genuinely helps people understand yachts and the market," said Hugo.
Hugo will work with our international team of journalists and contributors, including U.S.-based reviewer Kevin Koenig. He is also keen to mentor emerging writers, drawing on his experience leading editorial teams and developing specialist marine journalists.
Kevin Bodington, founder and CEO of YachtBuyer, welcomed Hugo's appointment, emphasizing the importance of reliable information and independent editorial judgment.
"YachtBuyer was built on a commitment to data integrity, technological innovation and transparency for the buyer. Hugo shares that commitment to delivering trusted, independent and authoritative information," said Bodington.

His publishing career also extended into the superyacht sector. In 2008, he was part of the founding team behind SuperYacht World magazine, serving as its Editor-in-Chief and overseeing coverage of superyacht ownership, charter and industry developments.
Hugo also helped establish the Motor Boat Awards in 2007, playing an important role in developing the independent judging process. The annual awards have since become an established fixture in the industry, recognizing motor yachts across a wide range of categories.
Some of our viewers will already recognize Hugo from a recent episode of YachtBuyer PropGear, where he joined Jack Haines and James Barke for a £300,000 used-boat challenge at Essex Marina.
We're excited to have Hugo on board and look forward to seeing his ideas and expertise help shape the future of YachtBuyer.
