Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.43m beam and a 3.5m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 1,182 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2007 with the keel laid under the project name 'Katie Sue I'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in May 2009 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2009.

Exterior Design

Caipirinha is a 60m (196.9ft) Lürssen motor yacht with exterior design by Espen Øino, built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. The profile is long and balanced, with a raked bow and clean deck lines that step gently through the superstructure, while large sections of glazing run across each level to open up the interior.

Deck spaces are spread across three levels, with a strong focus on open-air living. The main deck aft is arranged as a social zone with a bar and a deep settee, while side decks lead forward to a broad foredeck area. Up on the sun deck, the layout is split between a covered lounge with bar and an open aft dining space for 12, so the space shifts easily between shade and sun. Forward on this level, a large Jacuzzi sits among sunpads, set apart from the main social areas.

At the stern, a wide swim platform connects directly to a spacious tender garage, with additional tender storage arranged to port and starboard. The overall arrangement keeps water access and operations separate from guest seating areas, so circulation remains clear across the decks.

The exterior finish combines a grey hull with a white superstructure and a red boot stripe, while the lower hull is painted black for durability and easier upkeep.

Interior Design

The interior by Mark Berryman Design uses warm woods and a restrained palette, supported by large windows that bring in consistent natural light across the 1,182GT volume.

The main saloon is arranged as a formal lounge that can convert into a cinema, with a hidden screen and projector built into the space, while an additional lounge aft also doubles as a media room. This gives two separate viewing areas without affecting the main social flow.

A formal dining area sits adjacent, connected to a piano lounge fitted with a self-playing Bösendorfer piano, so the space can shift between dining and evening use. Higher up, the sky lounge works as a more relaxed setting, with a bar, media setup and gaming tables grouped into one area.

Throughout the guest spaces, electric blinds are fitted to manage light and privacy, while the layout keeps each area distinct but connected through consistent materials and sightlines.

Accommodation

Caipirinha accommodates up to 12 guests across six cabins, with a crew of 14 supporting operations.

The main deck is given over to a full-beam owner’s suite, which includes a private lounge area, walk-through wardrobes and an en suite bathroom fitted with a steam bath. Large windows and direct deck access reinforce the sense of space in this area.

On the upper deck, a VIP suite provides an additional private guest option, while the lower deck holds four further cabins arranged as two doubles and two convertible twin cabins. Each cabin includes en suite facilities and the same electric blind system used throughout the yacht.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512 B) 1,979hp engines, motor yacht Caipirinha is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 160,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Caipirinha also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
