Design & Construction

Designed around a deep vee fiberglass hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 7.49m beam and a 1.14m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 218 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the third yacht built on the AB 116 design. She was delivered to her owners in June 2012.

Exterior Design

Diamond is an AB 116 high-performance motor yacht from AB Yachts, part of the Fipa Group, with exterior and interior design by Guido de Groot. The yacht follows the sleek, low-profile styling typical of the AB series, built around a long, dark metallic hull and a silver superstructure that flows in one continuous curve from bow to stern.

A narrow band of glazing runs through the superstructure, giving the yacht a streamlined appearance while bringing light into the interior spaces. Below, a row of oval hull ports marks the lower deck cabins. The bow extends into a clean foredeck area with sun pads set into the deck, while stainless guardrails trace the edge of the walkaround decks.

Although the profile reads like a pure open sport yacht, a compact flybridge sits hidden within the lines of the superstructure. This upper deck carries a secondary helm, grill, dining space and sunbathing area, offering elevated views without disrupting the yacht’s low silhouette.

At the stern, the aft deck connects directly to the swim platform, creating a launch point for the yacht’s Williams jet tender and personal watercraft.

Interior Design

The interior of Diamond continues Guido de Groot’s contemporary styling with a light, minimalist palette accented by stronger colour details. The main helm sits forward with three seats across the console, while a few steps down leads into one of the yacht’s most distinctive interior spaces.

This lower lounge sits within an atrium-style opening beneath the main deck. The ceiling rises up to the deck above, creating a double-height feel and bringing natural light down into the seating area. The arrangement allows guests in the lounge to remain connected with activity on the main deck.

Nearby sits the compact but functional galley, positioned close enough to the lounge and helm to serve both areas easily during cruising.

Accommodation

Diamond accommodates guests across several cabins arranged on the lower deck.

The owner’s suite spans the full beam of the yacht and includes a lounge area within the cabin, creating a private retreat separate from the main social spaces.

Forward of this sits a VIP cabin with a double berth. Two additional guest cabins provide flexible sleeping arrangements: one with twin berths and Pullman bunks, and another guest cabin configured with bunk beds. One of these cabins can convert into a gym when required.

She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V 2000 M94) 2,400hp engines, motor yacht Diamond is capable of reaching a top speed of 38 knots, and comfortably cruises at 33 knots. With her 14,998 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 461 nautical miles.
