Key Features

  • 28-knot top speed
  • 1,900nm quoted range
  • Main-deck owner's suite
  • Asymmetric main-deck layout

Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.76m beam and a 1.92m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 213 GT (Gross Tonnes).

She was completed at Sanlorenzo's La Spezia yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.

Exterior Design

Saam II is a 29.26m (96ft) Sanlorenzo SL96 Asymmetric, and the important part of the exterior is not simply that one side deck has disappeared. Zuccon International Project used the asymmetric layout to change how the whole main deck works, keeping a conventional starboard passage while moving the port-side circulation up onto the superstructure level.

That frees roughly 10m² (107.6ft²) on the main deck and allows the saloon to use more of the yacht's 6.76m (22.2ft) beam. From outside, the port side consequently reads very differently from starboard, with a long glazed section replacing the usual walkway and giving the yacht a more substantial, almost GT-like middle section.

The profile still has plenty of traditional SL range's character. The bow is long and fine, the superstructure stays fairly low, and the flybridge sits neatly above rather than becoming another heavy enclosed deck. Dark glazing stretches the hull visually and helps offset the extra main-deck volume.

Aft, Sanlorenzo has resisted the temptation to turn the whole stern into a fold-out beach terrace. Saam II retains a deeper, more sheltered cockpit, with the hydraulic bathing platform and tender garage below. That is a more conventional arrangement than the yard's SX range, but it brings better protection and keeps the guest deck secure when the boat is moving quickly.

The flybridge has the main open-air living area, with dining, lounge seating, sunpads and a wet bar. Forward, another guest area sits on the bow, linked into the unusual port-side circulation route created by the asymmetric deck plan.

Interior Design

Laura Sessa Romboli's interior gives Saam II a softer character than the sharper exterior suggests. Pale upholstery, light timber flooring and warm neutral fabrics sit against darker cabinetry and gloss details, with turquoise and blue-green accents adding colour without taking over the rooms.

The saloon is where the asymmetric design earns its keep. Instead of feeling like a long corridor between two narrow side decks, the room can use more of the yacht's beam, with lounge and dining functions sitting more naturally across the space.

Large glazing on the port side brings the sea much closer to the furniture. On the opposite side, the remaining starboard passage still gives crew and guests a conventional route from cockpit to bow, so the extra interior width has not come at the cost of all practical deck circulation.

Saam II was also specified for sustained use rather than occasional weekends. The enclosed galley has Gaggenau and Miele equipment, substantial refrigeration and proper service storage, while the laundry setup includes multiple Miele machines and ironing equipment.

Accommodation

Saam II accommodates 10 guests in five suites, rather than the four-cabin arrangement more commonly associated with the SL96 Asymmetric.

That is probably the clearest example of how this particular owner used the extra volume created by the asymmetric platform. The gain was not spent only on making the saloon wider. It also allowed the yacht to carry a proper five-suite guest programme within 29.26m (96ft).

The owner's suite remains forward on the main deck, away from the machinery spaces below and aft. Large windows bring in plenty of natural light, while the position gives the cabin more privacy than a lower-deck master.

The remaining guest accommodation sits below, with en suite bathrooms and the same light timber, neutral fabrics and darker detailing used upstairs.

Crew accommodation is arranged separately for up to six, supporting the higher guest count without forcing crew into the guest areas.

Performance & Capabilities

Saam II is powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M86 diesels producing 1,947hp each.

Top speed is 28 knots, while normal cruising speed is around 21 knots. With 10,350 litres of fuel, the yacht has a quoted maximum range of 1,900 nautical miles at 21 knots.

The planing hull gives Saam II a very different operating character from a slower displacement yacht of similar length. She can cover large distances quickly, which suits Mediterranean cruising where several anchorages or islands may be visited in the same day.

Zero-speed stabilisers help reduce roll at anchor as well as underway, while a bow thruster assists with close-quarters manoeuvring.
