Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.2m beam and a 3.33m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,291 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2017 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Sydney'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in April 2021 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2021.
Exterior Design
From the geometric bands of glass that grant a bluish hue to the decks, to the gleaming white superstructure, Top Five II is an embodiment of modern yacht design.
Volume is a big part of the story here. With a beam of 11.2m (36.75ft) and gross tonnage of around 1,291GT, Top Five II carries the mass of a much larger yacht, yet the design avoids looking blocky. Wide side decks help with that, while also making movement around the yacht feel easy and open.
Outdoor hospitality drove much of the exterior layout. The aft deck lounge is notably large and well protected, with multiple seating groups and a broad cabinet behind the main sofa that works as a practical serving surface during parties and family gatherings. Higher up, the bridge deck pool area is one of the yacht’s signature spaces. It sits in a semi-enclosed setting with skylights overhead, so it has the openness of an exterior deck but more shelter than usual. The glass-sided spa pool is lined in blue mosaic tiles, and the surrounding bar, seating and worktop space turn the whole deck into a strong social hub.
Above that, stairs lead to a smaller observation lounge that adds another outdoor layer. Here, a table converts into a gas-fed firepit, which gives the area a different mood in the evening and makes it more than just a lookout point. Elsewhere, the owners have their own private exterior spaces, including an aft dining area and a forward terrace with a spa pool and large sunpad.
At water level, the lower deck includes a beach club with fitness equipment and side platforms for direct access to the sea, while the oversized tender garage uses side-opening doors for launch and recovery.
Interior Design
The interior of Top Five II was also designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and it follows a brief for timeless comfort rather than trend-led styling. The look leans toward what the design team described as contemporary American classic, so the mood is warm, polished and highly usable rather than minimal for the sake of it.
The main saloon sets the tone. It begins with a foyer and bar to port, then opens into a large lounge and formal dining area, divided by a central bar and television console. The dining table is custom-made and stretches to around 4.3m (14.11ft), with seating for 14 guests. Full-height windows and generous deckhead heights of around 2.3m (7.55ft) on the main deck and 2.4m (7.87ft) on the upper deck give the interior unusual scale, and that extra height helps the rooms feel calm rather than crowded.
Materials are layered carefully. Bronze tones, silvery greys, natural and tinted woods, textured metals, leather and shimmering fabrics all work together, so the yacht has richness without fuss. Lighting and custom carpets play a major part too, because they help define each area while linking the decks through a consistent visual language.
A central staircase wraps around a glass lift, and that circulation core is one of the yacht’s strongest design moments. Sinot also paid close attention to service areas and pantries, keeping them generous but discreet, so the guest spaces remain uncluttered while service can still run smoothly.
The bridge deck cinema shows how far the redesign went for the current owners. What had once been a darker party room became a lighter family room with whitewashed oak flooring, softer finishes and a 96-inch screen. Throughout the yacht, the design has a clear sense of order, but also enough personality to avoid feeling generic.
Accommodation
Top Five II accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins as standard, with an additional lower-deck media room that can convert into a seventh cabin when needed.
One of the yacht’s strongest layout features is the number of cabins on the main deck. Five guest suites are arranged here, forward of the guest lobby and central glass lift, which gives them better light and views than lower-deck cabins usually offer. One of these suites is wheelchair accessible, which is still uncommon in this size range and makes the layout more flexible for a wider range of guests. The cabins use calm base tones with individual accent colours, while extra-long beds and, in several cases, bathtubs make them especially well suited to family use.
The owner’s suite sits on its own private deck. This area was heavily refined during the project so it would feel more intimate and better organised. The bed now sits beneath a skylight dome, while his-and-hers dressing rooms and his-and-hers bathrooms are placed beyond it. A separate study adds another layer of privacy, and the whole deck connects directly to private outdoor spaces forward and aft.
On the lower deck, the yacht also has two more flexible guest spaces, a twin and a double, which can work together as a family arrangement or allow the twin to be used by nannies or staff when needed. This adds practical versatility without compromising the main guest experience.
Crew areas were given serious attention too. Top Five II carries 19 crew, and the crew mess was designed so the full team can sit down together. The captain’s cabin is on the bridge deck and is comparable in scale to a guest cabin, while the chief engineer and first officer also have dedicated cabins. The placement of the crew mess and laundry on the tank deck helps keep working noise away from the sleeping quarters above.
Performance & Capabilities
Top Five II is powered by two Caterpillar 3512E HD engines, giving her a top speed of around 15.2 knots and a cruising speed of around 12.7 knots. At 12 knots, the yacht has a range of around 4,200 nautical miles, so she is set up for genuine long-distance cruising.
This is not just a volume yacht. She was built for global use, and that comes through in the specification. Top Five II complies with IMO Tier III regulations and carries a Class 2 Dynamic Positioning System, while an ice belt adds another layer of protection for higher-latitude cruising.
Ride comfort is supported by Naiad Total Ride Control, with very large fins designed to work independently or together to reduce both roll and pitch. The hull was developed specifically around those systems, so they are part of the yacht’s design from the outset rather than a bolt-on solution. She also carries a FarSounder sonar with 3D imaging and a range of up to 1,000m (3,280.84ft), which supports safer navigation in more remote waters.
Amenities
Waterfront living can be enjoyed to the fullest, thanks to a large beach club and connecting swim platform with plenty of space for sitting back and admiring the sea views. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
