WATCH: First Video Reveals 136m Lürssen Superyacht Hadar After Major Refit

A new video showing the 136m superyacht Hadar docking in Gibraltar offers one of the clearest looks yet at the former Flying Fox following her recent refit and renaming.

Built by Lürssen and delivered in 2019, Hadar was designed inside and out by two of the most recognizable names in large-yacht design - Espen Øino for the exterior and Mark Berryman for the interior. Lürssen also handled the naval architecture.

Hadar emerges from her refit with a new look

The Gibraltar video lands just days after Hadar emerged from Lürssen’s Hamburg facility following an extensive five-month refit. Formerly known as Flying Fox, the yacht arrived at the yard in September 2025 and reappeared in early March 2026 under her new name and with a notably different exterior finish. One of the biggest visual changes is the move to an all-white hull, replacing the darker two-tone look that had long been part of her public identity.

Since her 2019 delivery, she has remained one of the most talked-about vessels in the large-yacht fleet - first as the world’s largest charter yacht at launch, later through sanctions-related headlines, and now through a private transition that appears to have reset her public image.

The design details that still set her apart

Even years after delivery, Hadar stands out because of the depth of her technical and lifestyle brief. Among her best-known exterior features are the 12-meter transverse main-deck pool, dual helipads, large beach club, and a series of terraces that open the motor yacht up to the water.

Inside, Mark Berryman’s scheme gave the yacht a softer and more residential tone than her size might suggest. Materials such as oak, bamboo, limestone, travertine, and cream leather were used across guest spaces, while standout areas include a winter garden, a double-height main saloon, and a private cinema fitted with D-Box motion seating. The owner’s suite, meanwhile, is one of the largest and most detailed spaces on board, supported by private lounges, dressing areas, and its own terrace.

Wellness is another part of the yacht’s identity that has helped define her since launch. Hadar’s 400-square-meter spa remains one of the most talked-about installations on any yacht of her era, with facilities including a cryosauna, hammam, hydrotherapy areas, gym, and treatment spaces spread over two levels. Her engineering was developed around a displacement steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with twin MTU engines delivering a top speed of 20 knots and a reported range of around 6,500 nautical miles at 15 knots.

Why Hadar’s size matters

Hadar’s appearance in Gibraltar also highlights her position among the world's largest yachts afloat. With an internal volume of 9,022GT, the 136m Lürssen build holds the number 19 position in the YachtBuyer YB100 - YachtBuyer’s ranking of the world’s biggest yachts measured by gross tonnage.

Lürssen-built yachts occupy several positions in the YachtBuyer YB100, including the 90m Ice

Unlike the traditional Top 100 based purely on length overall, the YB100 focuses on gross tonnage - the metric that measures a yacht’s total internal volume. This provides a clearer understanding of the usable space inside a vessel, which is why GT remains the key benchmark used across the industry for design, classification, and shipyard pricing.

Within the YB100 ranking, Hadar sits among several other well-known large yachts: the 162m Dubai, delivered by Platinum Yachts in 2006, the 90m Lürssen yacht Ice from 2005, the 106m Dream built by Abeking and Rasmussen in 2001, and the distinctive 119m Motor Yacht A delivered by Blohm and Voss in 2008.

The Gibraltar video provides a timely look at Hadar following her refit, highlighting the scale behind this 9,022GT YB100-ranked superyacht.
