The British builder announced the delivery on October 15, sharing a photograph of the team and project partners gathered alongside the completed yacht. Archipelago also thanked the owners for their trust throughout the build, describing the handover as an important moment for everyone involved.
A47 Explorer Catamaran Built to Go Further
The Archipelago A47 is not intended to be a conventional weekend cruiser. With a reported range exceeding 3,000 nautical miles, a shallow 1m draft and speeds of up to 30 knots, the twin-hulled explorer has been developed for owners looking to venture beyond familiar cruising grounds.
Its catamaran configuration provides a broad platform for accommodation while allowing access to shallower anchorages, opening up opportunities for coastal exploration that may be less practical aboard deeper-draft yachts. Machinery and essential onboard systems are arranged for easier access and maintenance, an important consideration when cruising far from the usual marina facilities.
Archipelago offers several propulsion configurations, including hybrid and electric options, although the yard has not disclosed which system has been installed aboard A47-02. Accommodation is available for up to eight people, with customization playing a central role in the explorer yacht's design. Rather than working around a fixed specification, owners can tailor layouts, equipment and interior finishes to suit their cruising plans.
An Explorer Yacht That Doesn't Stop for Winter
One of the more interesting aspects of the A47 is its approach to year-round cruising. While many family motor yachts are primarily designed around warm-weather use, Archipelago has considered what happens when daylight fades, temperatures drop and guests still want to enjoy the salon.
The solution is a partition that separates the helm from the main living area, allowing the wheelhouse to remain dark for nighttime navigation while guests continue using the adjoining lounge without affecting the helmsman's visibility. Underfloor heating, entertainment systems and a galley make the salon a more comfortable place to spend time during colder passages, while the yacht's ocean-capable design supports cruising beyond the traditional summer season.
It's a relatively simple idea, but one that addresses a familiar challenge for owners who use their boats extensively rather than only during the warmer months. The A47 also offers a selection of interior finishes and layouts, with wheelchair accessibility included as standard in the builder's published specification.
What's Next for Archipelago Expedition Yachts?
The delivery of A47-02 comes as Archipelago progresses several projects across its growing explorer range, including its first fully electric A40 and a second 24m A80 expedition yacht.
Earlier this month, the British builder revealed that construction had begun on the 12.2m all-electric Archipelago A40, releasing images of its aluminum structure taking shape. Designed for activities including fishing, diving and filming, the A40 is the smallest model in the range, although performance figures for the electric version have yet to be confirmed.
At the larger end of the fleet, Archipelago secured a contract in May 2026 for its second 24.4m Archipelago A80 explorer catamaran. Designed for extended ocean passages, the yacht will feature hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, accommodation for up to 16 guests and owner-specific amenities including a sauna, gym and strengthened helideck. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
