Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.34m beam and a 1.65m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 153 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the second yacht built on the Baia One Hundred design.

Exterior Design

ASTRO is one of the most distinctive yachts to emerge from the high-performance Italian yacht market of the 2000s. Built by Baia Yachts and styled by Carlo Galeazzi, the 31m (101.7ft) Baia One Hundred combines the proportions of an oversized sports yacht with the accommodation and amenities expected of a modern superyacht.

The profile is exceptionally low and elongated, with a shallow 1.25m (4.1ft) draft that allows the hull to sit close to the water. Long, uninterrupted lines run from the bow through to the stern, while a modified deep-V Kevlar hull developed by naval architect Alberto Ascenzi underpins the yacht's performance credentials.

What sets ASTRO apart from almost every yacht in her size range is the vast glass superstructure that forms the heart of the design. Rather than a traditional enclosed deckhouse, the yacht features a sweeping glazed structure that stretches across much of the main deck, creating an almost continuous connection between interior and exterior spaces. The effect is particularly striking from the side profile, where the dark glass canopy appears suspended above the hull.

The exterior layout follows the open-cruiser philosophy that made Baia famous. Wide side decks connect the cockpit directly to the bow, where guests will find a large foredeck sunbathing area. The flybridge provides an additional relaxation zone with expansive sunpads and elevated views, while the aft deck is arranged for outdoor dining and socialising.

Interior Design

The interior takes a different approach from the dramatic exterior. While the profile projects speed and aggression, the living spaces favour light, openness and simplicity.

The main saloon is centred around natural light. Large expanses of glass surround the space, while sliding doors blur the boundary between the interior and the aft deck. White upholstery, pale finishes and warm timber flooring create a clean, contemporary atmosphere that feels closer to a waterfront residence than a traditional yacht interior.

The yacht's glass architecture plays a major role in the onboard experience. Natural light reaches deep into the accommodation, while uninterrupted views maintain a constant visual connection with the sea. The result is an unusually airy environment for a high-performance yacht.

One of the most distinctive interior spaces sits beneath the glazed superstructure. Here, a dining and lounge area occupies a conservatory-like setting enclosed by curved glass panels and overhead glazing. The space functions as a sheltered observation lounge while retaining the feeling of being outdoors.

Throughout the yacht, mirrors, modular furnishings and integrated lighting have been used to maximise the perception of space. The design avoids heavy ornamentation, instead relying on clean lines, reflective surfaces and carefully selected materials.

Accommodation

ASTRO accommodates up to 10 guests across four cabins, supported by separate accommodation for crew.

The full-beam master suite is the highlight of the guest accommodation. Rich timber finishes, marble detailing and carefully integrated lighting create a more intimate atmosphere than the public spaces above. The design extends into the ensuite bathroom, where the same materials and detailing continue throughout the suite.

Guest accommodation also includes a VIP cabin and two twin cabins, each fitted with Pullman berths to increase flexibility for families and larger charter groups. Mirrors, integrated storage and thoughtful lighting help maximise the available volume within each cabin.

The four-cabin arrangement allows the yacht to accommodate a broad range of guest configurations while maintaining a comfortable balance between sleeping accommodation and social areas.

Crew quarters are positioned separately to support efficient service while preserving guest privacy throughout the yacht.

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Astro is capable of reaching a top speed of 50 knots, and comfortably cruises at 45 knots. With her 10,300 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 576 nautical miles at 37 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.

Amenities

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
