Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.4m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 748 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in March 2009.
Exterior Design
Chayka presents a strong, purposeful profile defined by a steel hull in a muted blue-grey finish, paired with a clean white superstructure. Black accents along the boot top and below the waterline reinforce the yacht’s composed and contemporary aesthetic. The vertical pilothouse windows reflect her seagoing pedigree, while still fitting into the refined lines of a private yacht.
Design updates to the bridge deck aft have opened up the area beneath the mast arch, allowing airflow and a lighter feel by removing enclosed glazing. The Portuguese bridge includes a direct stairway down to the foredeck, contributing to a layout that leans toward straightforward, practical solutions.
Once on deck, the flow between inside and out is enhanced by full-height glazed doors and wide panes of glass in the main saloon, which give clear sightlines to the sea. The ducts for the engine room have been positioned aft of the saloon to avoid dividing the space visually, improving the overall openness.
The aft deck features a glass-backed spa pool, which can be filled with either salt or fresh water depending on preference. Up on the sun deck, there’s an outdoor dining setup under a fabric awning extended from the mast, offering shaded seating for 14. A forward-facing sofa by the bridge offers a quieter, more private perch.
At the stern, the bathing platform is fitted with a versatile “passa-crane” system that handles boarding, swimming access, and tender launch. These deck arrangements reflect a careful balance between guest enjoyment and operational practicality.
Interior Design
Inside, Chayka’s design leans into warm, understated elegance, using tactile materials and a subtle palette to create a relaxed onboard environment. Natural oak and pale leather sit alongside darker walnut and planked walnut flooring, while touches of macassar ebony bring contrast and richness to the saloons and guest areas.
The main saloon on the main deck is particularly spacious, thanks in part to the asymmetrical layout that eliminates a starboard side deck and grants this area around 100 square meters of internal space. Generous glazing on both sides lets in ample daylight, with ten large windows per side and sliding glass doors opening directly to the aft deck.
Furnishings are substantial yet laid-back in style. Two broad sofas face each other across low-set ebony tables at the aft end of the saloon, while the forward section is arranged as a media lounge, featuring a large corner sofa oriented towards a 60-inch plasma screen.
Upstairs, the upper salon connects to the yacht’s principal dining space. This area is arranged around a round dining table that seats 12, set in a semi-circular layout with sliding glass doors curving around it. These can be opened up to bring the outdoors in, making it a versatile space for formal or casual meals. An L-shaped sofa and additional lounge chairs complete the setting, giving guests somewhere comfortable to gather pre- or post-dinner.
The upper dining room is enclosed and includes a skylight directly above the table, drawing in overhead light during the day. Elsewhere, the main deck lobby links the enclosed decks via a staircase and lift, and also features a quieter corner with a games table. Bathrooms and en suites are finished in emperador marble, which adds depth and warmth to these spaces.
Accommodation
Chayka accommodates up to 12 guests across six staterooms. The master suite occupies a prime spot on the main deck and stretches across the full beam. Five large windows on each side provide expansive sea views and excellent natural light. Entry is through a private study, fitted with a desk and leather sofa. The bedroom itself can be accessed either through two dressing rooms to port or directly from starboard. Raised slightly for better forward sightlines, the bed faces out over the bow.
The en suite bathroom is semi-circular in layout, finished with heated emperador marble flooring. It features a glass-walled shower and a deep spa bath also clad in marble.
On the lower deck, the VIP suite includes a bedroom to starboard and a lounge or study to port, along with a private dressing area and en suite shower room.
Four additional guest cabins are located amidships on the lower deck. Two of these are matching double cabins, mirrored in layout. There is also a third double and a twin cabin, rounding out the accommodation.
Crew quarters are situated forward on the lower deck and support a team of 12. This includes a captain’s cabin and five en suite cabins arranged with upper and lower bunks. The crew area also contains a spacious mess.
