Design & Construction
She features a 22.6m beam and a 5.6m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 175 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Sapphire Sea II is a 26.4m (86.6ft) classic motor yacht built in 1972 by Dittmar & Donaldson, and her profile stays true to that era of long-range cruising yachts. The hull is long and low with a fine bow, a straight sheer line and a slightly raised pilothouse, so the overall look is balanced and purposeful.
Her construction is a key part of the story. The hull uses double-planked mahogany, with diagonal inner planking and carvel outer planking over sawn mahogany frames, all fastened with silicon bronze. This method gives strength and longevity, and it explains the yacht’s solid displacement feel of around 140,000 lbs (63,503kg).
The superstructure is painted white with warm wood trim around the windows and doors, which adds contrast without losing the classic look. The deck layout is practical, with raised bulwarks, teak caprails and wide side decks that make movement around the yacht secure.
The boat deck carries tenders on chocks with twin davits and 110V winches, while the central mast supports antennas and navigation equipment. A Portuguese bridge sits forward of the wheelhouse, giving protection at sea and adding to the yacht’s offshore character.
The aft deck is enclosed under a hardtop and set up as a social space, with L-shaped seating, a bar cabinet with grill and ice maker, and direct access to the teak swim platform. The overall layout leans toward function and safe movement, while still giving enough outdoor space for relaxed use at anchor.
Interior Design
Inside, Sapphire Sea II keeps a traditional layout built around teak joinery and practical spaces. The saloon is large for a yacht of this length, with a lounge area, dining table, bar and desk arranged in one open room, so it can handle both daily use and entertaining.
Teak plywood bulkheads and cabinetry define the main guest areas, while granite countertops, a wet bar and built-in storage add useful detail without changing the classic feel. Large sliding windows bring in light, and the layout keeps clear walkways between seating and dining zones.
The wheelhouse sits forward and slightly raised, with full instrumentation, chart table, helm controls and direct access to the side decks. This space feels like a proper working bridge, set up for long passages with navigation, communication and monitoring systems all within reach.
The galley has been updated with new woodwork and modern appliances, including Sub-Zero refrigeration, dishwasher, microwave and cooking equipment, so it supports extended time on board without relying on shore facilities.
Accommodation
Classic superyacht Sapphire Sea II is arranged with three large guest cabins, each with its own head, along with additional accommodation areas that bring the total to five guest cabins.
The master stateroom includes a king-size berth, teak cabinetry, vanity, granite-topped surfaces and separate port and starboard heads with an enlarged shower. The cabin also has multiple portlights and storage, so it feels settled and private within the hull.
Guest cabins include a forward queen cabin and twin cabins to port and starboard, each with en suite facilities, cedar-lined lockers and practical storage. The arrangement keeps cabins evenly sized, which works well for mixed groups on longer trips.
Crew areas are positioned forward with two cabins, a separate crew galley, mess and head, so service remains independent from guest spaces.
