Originally delivered in 2009, Kos is part of the well-known Benetti Classic 120 series. She features exterior styling by Stefano Righini, interiors by François Zuretti, and naval architecture developed in-house by the Italian shipyard.
Preserving a Benetti Classic While Opening Up the Interior
The refit began shortly after the yacht changed ownership in August 2025. From the outset, the owner's brief centered on improving comfort, functionality, and the perception of space without fundamentally altering the Benetti yacht's established layout. Working alongside Lusben's engineering and project teams, interior designer Laura Rossi led a redesign that focused on introducing more natural light and creating stronger visual connections between the yacht's interior spaces.
One of the most significant modifications involved the installation of a new full-height window in the main salon, bringing considerably more daylight into the central living area. The staircase connecting the main and upper decks was also reconfigured, with a transparent balustrade replacing heavier elements to improve sightlines and encourage light to travel between decks.
KOS remains deeply a Benetti Classic, yet today she expresses a new vision of comfort and life on board. Perhaps that is the greatest luxury of all: feeling completely at ease in a space”.

Elsewhere on the yacht, satin-finished glass panels replaced selected opaque surfaces within the corridors, while a newly introduced backlit bar became a focal point within the main social areas. Throughout the guest accommodations, new fabrics, finishes, and materials were selected with an emphasis on durability, comfort, and ease of maintenance.
From Teak Decks to Fresh Paintwork
Outside, Kos received a broad range of cosmetic and functional improvements. The teak decks underwent extensive restoration and refinishing work, while the sundeck was reconfigured following the removal of the existing Jacuzzi. The revised layout creates additional open deck space and greater flexibility for owner use.
Among the largest undertakings was the complete repainting of both the hull and superstructure. Lusben carried out the work within a controlled environment equipped with air-management and dust-control systems designed to achieve near new-build quality standards. According to the shipyard, the finished surface achieved gloss levels approaching those typically associated with newly delivered yachts.
Modernizing the Yacht's Infrastructure
While many of the most visible changes occurred within the living spaces, a substantial portion of the project focused on technical infrastructure. Lusben undertook extensive work on the motor yacht's main engines, generators, and critical onboard systems. Upgrades included servicing and overhauling key machinery, preventative replacement programs, and improvements to systems supporting long-term reliability and operational continuity.
The scope extended across HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, hydraulic circuits, water treatment equipment, and vessel monitoring systems. The bridge and onboard electronics were modernized to improve usability for crew while enhancing navigational capability and safety.
A Landmark Project During Lusben's 70th Year
The completion of Kos comes as Lusben marks its 70th anniversary and highlights the growing role of major refit programs within the superyacht sector.
The project joins a growing portfolio of significant work undertaken by the Italian refit specialist. Recent examples include the 70m Benetti Alfa, which underwent an extensive modernization program involving technical upgrades, survey work, repainting, and interior enhancements. Also notable is the 52m Solafide, which received a comprehensive redesign alongside major machinery, stabilization, and onboard systems upgrades. She went on to receive the 'Best in Refit' category at the International Superyacht Society Awards 2025.
Like those projects, the refit of Kos focused not on fundamentally changing the yacht, but on preserving the qualities that originally defined the Benetti Classic while updating key systems, improving everyday usability, and bringing the vessel closer to contemporary expectations for comfort and efficiency. The result is a yacht that remains unmistakably a Benetti Classic while benefiting from extensive modernization across her interiors, technical systems, and exterior spaces.
Recent Refit Projects Making Headlines
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Kos is one of several notable refit and rebuild projects completed across the superyacht sector in recent months. At Feadship, the 47m Halcyon recently returned to the water following a 14-month rebuild that included a redesigned stern, major technical upgrades, and extensive interior refurbishment.
Meanwhile, the newly converted 80m-plus support vessel U-81 made her first public appearance in Rotterdam after being transformed from the former offshore supply vessel FS Cygnus. The project introduced a yacht-focused profile, aviation facilities, and expanded support vessel capabilities while retaining the vessel's commercial foundations.
