Superyacht Project Tanzanite Launched as the Largest Dutch-Built Vessel by Amels

Amels has marked a major milestone with the launch of superyacht Tanzanite, a 120-meter fully custom vessel that is now moving into her final outfitting phase at the shipyard’s Vlissingen facilities.

Scheduled for delivery in 2026, Tanzanite is set to become the largest yacht ever completed by the Dutch builder.

Arrival and Build Progress

The yacht first touched Dutch waters in June 2023, arriving in Vlissingen after her hull was launched from Amels’ Galati facility in Romania. At 6,083 gross tons, she represents the most ambitious construction in the shipyard’s history.

Following her recent float-out inside the covered dock, the yacht has officially entered the next stage of the build, where over 1,000 craftsmen and women from Damen Yachting and the wider global supply network will continue working toward completion.

Exterior by Espen Øino

Tanzanite carries exterior lines by Norwegian designer Espen Øino. The profile of the motor yacht features a clipper bow and a five-deck superstructure, balanced by expansive teak decks and a white hull accented with a black boot stripe. Large windows cut across her decks to create a strong visual connection between interior and exterior spaces.

Among her standout exterior features are two helipads and two swimming pools. The main deck pool serves as a central social hub, while the bridge deck pool provides a more private setting. Uncluttered deck spaces are arranged for al fresco dining, relaxation, and sea views.

Interior by Zuretti

Zuretti Design is responsible for the yacht’s interiors; early descriptions point to an elegant scheme using warm honey tones and extensive marble. A centerpiece is the sweeping marble staircase that encircles a glass elevator, extending through the yacht’s vertical core.

Other features include a glass-bottomed pool that channels light into the beach club below, alongside expansive lounges shaped by natural light from full-height windows. The interior will accommodate 22 guests in 11 suites, supported by 44 crew.

Performance is underpinned by a diesel-electric system equipped with Kongsberg Elegance® pods. This setup enables a top speed of 18 knots while prioritizing low noise and vibration levels and improved maneuverability. The approach aligns with Amels’ wider commitment to efficiency and next-generation propulsion.

Beyond Tanzanite: The Amels 80 and 60

Alongside its one-off flagship builds, Amels continues to advance its Limited Editions line. According to YachtBuyer Market Watch, the world's largest yacht database, the Amels 80 and Amels 60 stand as two major models in the order book.

The Amels 80, launched as the range’s flagship, measures 80 meters with a volume of 2,175 GT. Built on a steel hull with aluminum superstructure, the yacht introduces a new fast-displacement platform optimized for efficiency, capable of reaching 16 knots and ranges of 5,000 nautical miles. Accommodation is arranged for 14 guests across seven cabins, with interiors offering substantial scale without excess. The design has already collected multiple industry awards since its debut.

The Amels 60, designed by Espen Øino, succeeds the popular Amels 180 with a sharper profile and 830 GT of volume. Delivered with hybrid propulsion technology, the 60 allows silent cruising at up to 7 knots on electric power. The tri-deck layout carries six guest cabins for 12, including an owner’s suite with a folding balcony, plus space for 13 crew. Features such as a touch-and-go helipad, 9-meter tender, and expansive sun deck underline the model’s flexibility for long-range use.
