Scheduled to make her world debut at the forthcoming 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, the steel-hulled explorer yacht was commissioned by a repeat Feadship client and joins the Dutch yard’s growing fleet of explorer-style projects, such as 55m (180ft) luxury yacht SHINKAI and 43m (140ft) motor yacht MOONSHADOW.
Designed for challenging itineraries, superyacht VALOR carries a two-metre ice belt above and below the waterline and holds a Bureau Veritas Young Ice 2 notation, enabling transits through high-latitude routes like the Northwest Passage, along with integrated heat exchangers that recycle and capture latent energy to support operations in severe Arctic conditions.
Sustainable Propulsion
At the heart of VALOR lies one of the most advanced propulsion systems that has emerged from the Feadship shipyard to date. Rather than conventional main engines, the explorer yacht draws power from four variable-speed generators connected to a DC power grid and supported by a water-cooled lithium-ion battery bank. This setup allows for zero-emission operation for up to two days, while delivering five times the electrical output of 84m (274ft) superyacht SAVANNAH, Feadship’s landmark hybrid launched in 2015.
Additional efficiency is achieved through a solar cell array on the mast, while propulsion comes from twin Schottel EcoPeller azimuthing thrusters, offering a top speed in excess of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots.
Design and Lifestyle
Exterior lines for motor yacht VALOR have been created by Studio De Voogt, following a brief from the American owner for a yacht “recognisable from outer space.” The design blends a dreadnought-inspired bow with the sharp geometry of a modern frigate.
Walk-around decks extend the exterior living space, with the owner’s deck featuring a dedicated al fresco lounge and even a grass “relief station” and shower for the owner’s three golden retrievers.
Interiors are the work of Bannenberg & Rowell Design and combine vintage and mid-century influences with bespoke craftsmanship. Among the highlights is said to be a dramatic main staircase composed of 48,001 bronze and stone components.
Leisure facilities onboard superyacht VALOR are extensive, with an 8.4 by 2.6-metre contra-flow infinity pool, a sundeck Jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads, and a large beach club that opens via fold-down doors for direct connections to the water.
A bridge deck gym, lower deck massage and beauty room, and an elevator serving all six decks add to the onboard lifestyle offering. Equipment storage is located port side, with water toys, dive gear, and exercise equipment arranged for easy access.
Accommodation is reported to accommodate up to 14 guests in a six-cabin layout, while the owner’s deck provides a forward-facing suite with panoramic views across the helideck, a private Jacuzzi, office, dressing room, and private alfresco spaces.
With a gross tonnage of 2,025 GT, VALOR misses out on a slot in the YachtBuyer YB100, alongside other Feadship yachts like 92m (301ft) superyacht DRIZZLE and 93m (305ft) luxury yacht LADY S; however, she represents a significant technical and stylistic milestone for Feadship.
From her ice-class credentials and zero-emission cruising capability to her bold exterior profile and highly personalised interior, she stands as one of the most ambitious deliveries of 2025. Her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show this September will provide the first opportunity for visitors to view Feadship’s latest vision of sustainable large-yacht design.
