Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.9m beam and a 2.55m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 480 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2025.

Exterior Design

Sea Rover has a distinctive profile that avoids the stepped appearance common on many expedition yachts. Instead, Dutch Design built the exterior around a single uninterrupted line that begins at the near-vertical bow, sweeps aft through the central arch, and curves gently down towards the stern. The result is a long, clean silhouette with very little visual clutter.

The hull and naval architecture were developed with Diana Yacht Design, whose work gives the 42.4m (140ft) yacht balanced proportions despite her substantial 480GT volume. A steel hull and aluminium superstructure provide the strength expected of a long range cruising yacht, while the relatively modest superstructure height keeps the profile low and elegant. Large hull windows and full-height glazing throughout the accommodation allow uninterrupted views from almost every guest area.

The central architectural arch defines the yacht's appearance and serves several practical functions. Rather than acting purely as a styling element, it forms the structural backbone around the upper decks while framing outdoor living spaces beneath it. From the side, the arch creates a distinctive visual break between the forward owner accommodation and the aft guest areas without interrupting the yacht's flowing profile.

Outdoor spaces are spread across four decks. The foredeck combines a recessed jacuzzi with generous sunpads that remain well protected behind high bulwarks. On the main deck aft, the outdoor lounge extends directly from the saloon through wide sliding glass doors, creating a single social area with shaded dining, a wet bar, generous seating and a large daybed positioned close to the water.

The bridge deck is unusual for a yacht of this size because it replaces a conventional tender deck with a large multipurpose activity space. Twin cranes launch the tender before the deck converts into a sports court suitable for pickleball, basketball, volleyball, paddle tennis or outdoor fitness sessions. This arrangement allows the space to change throughout the day rather than remaining dedicated to tender storage.

At water level, the beach club spans almost the full beam of the yacht. Fold-down platforms open on both sides to create a 270º waterside terrace that greatly increases usable deck area at anchor. The space includes sunbeds, casual dining, a wet bar, storage for watersports equipment and a day head, while direct access to the sea makes launching paddleboards, Seabobs, diving gear and other equipment straightforward.

Throughout the yacht, floor-to-ceiling glazing reduces the distinction between interior and exterior spaces. Large sliding doors, low bulwarks and carefully positioned windows allow guests to remain connected with the sea whether relaxing inside or outside, which reflects the yacht's wider design philosophy of placing natural light and panoramic views at the centre of everyday life on board.

Interior Design

Sea Rover's interior avoids the polished formality often associated with large superyachts. Paula Bruss and Julian Moore have developed a calm palette of natural woods, stone, woven textures and earth-toned fabrics that feels like a contemporary coastal home. Warm oak panelling, soft textiles and restrained detailing create spaces that feel understated and let's the light do the talking.

A central Sky View Stairwell forms the spine of the yacht, linking every guest deck from the sundeck to the lower accommodation. Above, the staircase begins beneath a glass table that doubles as a skylight, allowing daylight to filter naturally through the centre of the yacht into spaces that would normally rely entirely on artificial lighting.

The main saloon follows an open-plan arrangement with few internal barriers. Large sliding glass doors connect directly with the aft deck, while an industry-first double-sided television allows guests inside and outside to share the same entertainment. Adjacent to the saloon, the dining room sits beside the galley rather than behind it, encouraging interaction between guests and the chef instead of separating hospitality from the social areas.

Natural materials continue into the accommodation through partnerships with specialist suppliers. Performance fabrics from Loro Piana, custom carpets with leather detailing by Moore & Giles, handcrafted lighting, carefully selected stone and bespoke joinery all contribute to the yacht's quiet, residential feel.

One of the most original interior features lies below the main accommodation. Instead of concealing the machinery spaces, Dutch Design created a glass-walled passage through the engine room. Illuminated technical equipment becomes part of the experience, allowing guests to walk between the accommodation and beach club while viewing the yacht's engineering rather than avoiding it.

The bridge itself also departs from convention. A freestanding helm console leaves space for large sofas behind the helm, inviting owners and guests to spend time alongside the captain while underway instead of treating the wheelhouse as an off-limits operational area.

Accommodation

Sea Rover accommodates up to 12 guests in five cabins and carries a crew of nine in five crew cabins.

The owner's suite occupies the forward section of the main deck, where floor-to-ceiling glazing provides wide sea views from the bedroom and private sitting area. Storage received as much attention as the living space, with one of the largest dressing areas found aboard a yacht of this size. The ensuite bathroom centres on a Japanese onsen-style soaking tub alongside a private steam room.

Four guest cabins occupy the lower deck, comprising two VIP suites and two twin cabins. Each provides generous wardrobe space, dedicated linen and luggage storage, and direct access to the beach club through the glass engine-room corridor. Dutch Design also increased overall storage capacity throughout the yacht, creating dedicated luggage spaces capable of holding between 12 and 16 large suitcases so guest cabins remain free of bulky baggage during long cruises.

Every guest cabin will feature a handmade mattress by British bedmaker Savoir, whose history dates back to London's Savoy Hotel in 1905. Each bed takes between 30 and 120 hours to build by hand using natural materials including horsetail, wool and cotton. Savoir already supplies many of the world's largest superyachts, and Sea Rover will carry the same handcrafted sleep system throughout the guest accommodation as part of the yacht's wider wellness philosophy.

Crew accommodation reflects owner Scott Blum's belief that crew comfort directly affects life aboard. Four double crew cabins and a separate captain's cabin sit together with a large crew mess, dining area and laundry facilities. Rather than simplifying these spaces, Dutch Design finished them to the same standard as the guest accommodation.

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Sea Rover is capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. She has a maximum range of 3,716 nautical miles.

Leisure & Entertainment

Sea Rover has been designed around active use rather than passive relaxation, with every major outdoor space serving multiple purposes throughout the day.

The bridge deck converts into one of the yacht's most distinctive entertainment areas. Once tenders have been launched using the twin deck cranes, the space transforms into a full sports court suitable for pickleball, basketball, volleyball, paddle tennis or open-air fitness sessions.

Sea Rover supports a wide range of watersports including wakeboarding, wakesurfing, waterskiing, paddleboarding, kiteboarding, Seabobs, Sea-Doos, scuba diving, snorkelling and fishing. Storage has been planned around these activities so equipment remains readily accessible without compromising guest areas.

Wellness

Wellness is at the centre of Sea Rover's design as, instead of locating fitness and spa facilities below deck, Dutch Design has placed them high on the bridge deck where every activity benefits from uninterrupted sea views and abundant natural light.

The gym has been developed in partnership with luxury fitness specialist PENT., whose handcrafted equipment has been customised specifically for Sea Rover. Equipment includes a manual treadmill, rowing machine, bicycles, Pilates reformer, weight bench, wall bars, dumbbells, kettlebells, battle ropes, yoga equipment and a wide range of strength and mobility accessories. Every item has been secured specifically for use at sea while maintaining the clean aesthetic of the surrounding spaces.

The adjacent spa includes a sauna, dedicated massage room, infrared therapy wall and dual hot and cold plunge pools inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese wellness traditions. A jacuzzi provides another relaxation space, while the layout encourages guests to move naturally between exercise, hydrotherapy and recovery without leaving the bridge deck.

Dedicated areas support yoga, Pilates, stretching, Tai Chi and barre sessions, allowing owners to maintain regular wellness routines throughout extended cruising. Rather than treating fitness as a secondary activity, Sea Rover integrates movement, recovery and relaxation into the yacht's everyday layout.
