Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement wood / epoxy hull and superstructure she features a 7.5m beam and a 1.85m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 295 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2017 with the keel laid under the project name 'Echo R'. Launched in July 2017 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2017.
Exterior Design
Moonshot is a 39.1m (128.3ft) Tansu Tiger Shark with exterior styling by Riza Tansu. The yacht carries the military-inspired profile that has become closely associated with the Turkish yard, combining a low, purposeful stance with long uninterrupted deck lines and minimal decorative detailing. In profile, the yacht looks closer to a naval patrol vessel than a conventional superyacht, with a broad bow, angular superstructure and sharply cut stern sections.
The launch image highlights the yacht’s restrained colour palette. The hull and superstructure share the same muted grey finish, broken only by black glazing, circular portholes and the darker hull section below the waterline. The absence of excessive stainless steel trim or sculpted flourishes keeps the design deliberate and functional. Multiple circular hull windows spread across the hull sides reinforce the industrial character, while the rectangular bridge glazing creates a clean horizontal line across the upper structure.
A defining feature of the design is the expansive aft half-deck. Accessed via the passerelle, this open section functions as tender storage while underway but converts into a private beach setup once the tenders are launched. Broad sea stairs descend directly to the water, creating an unusually large waterside area for a yacht of this size. Dining tables and lounge areas positioned port and starboard help the stern operate more like an outdoor terrace than a traditional cockpit.
The foredeck continues the practical design approach with large integrated storage sections and minimal interruption to the clean deck surface. Technical equipment remains exposed rather than concealed, adding to the yacht’s utilitarian appearance. The bridge itself is intentionally simple, with direct access through side doors leading onto the deck.
Despite the military influence, the proportions remain balanced and refined. The long flush deck lines, extended overhangs and low superstructure help reduce visual height while maintaining substantial internal volume. The overall effect is restrained, functional and immediately recognisable as a Tansu design.
Interior Design
The interior, developed by URASTUDIO in collaboration with Tansu’s in-house team, contrasts the exterior’s harder edges with a softer, lighter atmosphere. Large windows throughout the main salon introduce substantial natural light, helping the interior feel open and relaxed rather than enclosed.
The main salon follows a straightforward layout with the dining area positioned directly aft of the entrance and the lounge arranged forward with television seating. The design language leans toward minimalism, using white wall finishes, clean-lined furniture and uncluttered surfaces to create a calm residential feel.
Upstairs, the sky lounge acts as a second social area with a bar, television corner and dining table for up to 12 guests. Large windows maintain clear views outside, while the elevated position gives the space a quieter, more private atmosphere during cruising or at anchor.
Accommodation
Moonshot accommodates up to eight guests across four cabins. The master suite sits on the main deck and benefits from large windows and bright white finishes that reinforce the relaxed residential feel described throughout the yacht. Positioned opposite is the ensuite bathroom.
Three additional guest cabins are arranged below deck, comprising a VIP cabin aft, a double cabin to starboard and a twin cabin to port. The lower guest corridor maintains the same simple, understated atmosphere as the rest of the yacht.
Crew accommodation supports up to five staff members, with separate crew areas positioned below deck to allow discreet operation during guest use.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18) 1,000hp engines, motor yacht Moonshot is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots. With her 20,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
