Key Features
- Commercial-grade steel hull
- Heavy-duty deck crane
- Open toy carrying deck
- 120-inch outdoor cinema
Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 7.1m beam and a 1.8m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 140 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the second yacht built on the YXT 24 design.
Exterior Design
Playa is not a conventional superyacht tender. Built by Lynx Yachts as a YXT support vessel, the 27m (88.6ft) platform was designed around utility, toy storage, and open deck flexibility, while still carrying a sharp, modern profile. The upright wheelhouse, long flush aft deck, and commercial-style proportions give her the look of a compact expedition ship rather than a traditional motor yacht. Wide side decks, heavy-duty fittings, and a steel hull reinforce that working-ship character.
The aft deck is the defining feature. It functions as a large open transport platform capable of carrying tenders, jet skis, surf equipment, dive gear, vehicles, and oversized toys. A crane system mounted midships handles launching duties, while the deck itself can transform into an event space once cleared. The owner previously carried a Land Rover Defender onboard, alongside a full-size Nautique ski boat and multiple PWCs. The arrangement leaves huge usable deck volume for a yacht of this size.
At the stern, the transom folds down into a transformer-style swim platform for water access and tender boarding. Beneath the aft deck, the lower level houses large lazarette and toy storage areas alongside gym and wellness spaces. The yacht’s broad beam and squared-off aft sections maximise usable storage capacity without compromising deck circulation.
Forward, the wheelhouse structure features wraparound glazing with near-panoramic visibility, while the foredeck remains deliberately uncluttered with practical anchoring equipment and open working space. The mast structure carries substantial navigation and communication hardware, reinforcing Playa’s long-range support role.
Unlike many support yachts that hide their purpose behind luxury styling, Playa embraces the industrial aesthetic. The clean hull sides, minimal overhangs, and angular wheelhouse design keep the yacht purposeful and highly functional.
Interior Design
The interior of Playa follows the same philosophy as the exterior: practical first, but still comfortable and carefully executed. Rather than large formal lounges and dining rooms, the yacht focuses on operational efficiency, crew support, storage, and flexible overflow accommodation for the mothership.
The wheelhouse and upper saloon combine into one compact social and operational area. Large windows wrap around the space, giving exceptional visibility in every direction. A pop-up television, casual seating, and a clean helm layout create an environment that feels closer to a modern explorer bridge than a conventional luxury yacht saloon.
Below deck, the yacht includes extensive refrigeration, pantry storage, provisioning space, and technical systems designed to support extended cruising alongside a larger yacht. Deep storage compartments run throughout the hull for luggage, watersports gear, and supplies. The lower deck also houses AV racks for the yacht’s oversized outdoor cinema system, which includes a 120-inch screen mounted on the aft deck for open-air movie nights.
The engineering spaces reflect the yacht’s commercial-grade build quality. Twin Caterpillar C12 engines sit within a substantial engine room alongside twin Seakeeper 26 gyrostabilisers, generators, watermakers, and an Atlas shore power converter designed for worldwide cruising compatibility.
A dedicated wellness and gym area occupies part of the lower deck and includes gym equipment, sauna facilities, surfboard storage, and a hyperbaric wellness chamber. The yacht’s interior does not try to imitate a floating penthouse. Instead, every area supports Playa’s role as a floating toy box, expedition base, and operational support vessel.
Accommodation
Playa offers accommodation for up to four guests across flexible cabin arrangements, while also carrying up to four crew onboard.
The guest accommodation is designed primarily as overflow space for the accompanying mothership. Cabins can therefore operate in several configurations depending on operational needs. Layout options include an owner’s cabin, VIP cabin, twin cabin, and a convertible cabin that can function either as twins or a double arrangement.
Crew accommodation sits forward on the lower deck and includes two crew cabins with upper and lower berths, private en suite bathrooms, and a dedicated crew mess area. The arrangement allows Playa to operate independently while also supporting additional crew from the primary yacht when required.
A separate guest cabin on the lower deck provides occasional accommodation for additional visitors or operational staff. Opposite sits a day head with steam shower facilities.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-18) 850hp engines, motor yacht Playa is capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 19,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,800 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
