79m Amels Superyacht Moonstone Redelivered Following Extensive 26-Month Refit

The 79m superyacht Moonstone, formerly known as Albatross, has been delivered by Damen Yachting following a major refit at their Vlissingen City yard.

Originally built by Delta Marine, Moonstone has undergone a complete exterior and interior transformation in collaboration with London-based design studio Harrison Eidsgaard.

The refit, which spanned 26 months, included a 7-meter extension and a host of design and layout enhancements, preparing the yacht for a summer of private cruising with her Owners.

A Complete Overhaul

The extensive refit and relaunch of Moonstone saw her length increased from 72.2 meters to 79.2 meters, adding both volume and capability. The transom was reworked, the hull repainted, and the layout reimagined to enhance guest spaces and entertainment areas. On the Sun Deck, a stylish new bar creates a lively focal point, while the Bridge Deck now features a winter garden - a versatile space for dining, entertaining, and relaxing.

The Owner’s Deck has been upgraded with a jacuzzi, and the Main Deck features a newly installed swimming pool. Down on the Lower Deck, an expansive swim platform provides direct access to the water, catering to guests who enjoy swimming, water sports, or simply relaxing by the sea.

Moonstone can now accommodate 12 guests, supported by two staff and a crew of 18, plus the Captain. With a gross tonnage of 2,149 GT, the refit has optimized both guest comfort and operational efficiency.

A Collaborative Effort

Damon Smallwood, speaking on behalf of the Owners, praised the collaboration between all parties involved. “We are proud and pleased with the intensive and effective collaboration that led to this final result,” he said. “The Owners have a beautiful yacht to cruise around the world for years to come.”

Project Manager Daan Langezaal echoed these sentiments, commenting, “After months of work on this beautiful project, we proudly bid her farewell. The collaboration with the Owner’s team ran like clockwork, and challenges were successfully overcome. A big thank you to everyone involved in this beautiful project.”

Engineering, Design, and Refit Expertise

Moonstone's refit leveraged Damen Yachting’s extensive facilities across both Vlissingen yard locations, supported by a dedicated Refit Sales team, experienced design and engineering specialists, and a Refit-focused project management and production team. The yacht’s transformation reflects a comprehensive approach to large-scale yacht refits, balancing technical precision with creative vision.

Building on Moonstone’s Legacy

This 79m Moonstone (formerly Albatross) is thought to succeed the original 61m Moonstone, delivered by Amels in 2021. Built on the Amels 200 platform with exterior design by Tim Heywood and interiors by Luxury Projects, the original yacht was known for its hybrid propulsion system, bespoke detailing, and long-range cruising capability.

Featuring a beach club lounge, an owner’s suite with a private balcony, and hybrid battery-supported systems designed to reduce emissions, the 61m yacht for sale was tailored for an active, art-collecting owner with a growing family. The decision to commission a significantly larger vessel - this time with a custom layout, wellness center, and expanded outdoor spaces - suggests a continuation of that lifestyle, scaled up to meet evolving needs.

Moonstone is listed for sale on YachtBuyer and is currently asking $69,900,000.

Damen Yachting’s Refit Expertise

Moonstones' redelivery follows a string of major refits at Damen Yachting’s Vlissingen yard. Among them is Here Comes the Sun, an 89m Amels yacht that returned for an extensive rebuild in 2020. Originally delivered in 2017 at 83 meters, Here Comes the Sun was extended by six meters and enhanced with a helicopter landing area, an expanded beach club, a seven-meter pool, and redesigned VIP suites.
