Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 185 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Active Octo is a 31.7m (104ft) Destiny motor yacht with the kind of wide-body profile that immediately gives away her focus on interior volume. Designed by Evan K. Marshall, the yacht blends softer traditional lines with a cleaner, more modern superstructure shape, so despite the beam and height, she still carries a fairly balanced look on the water.
The long dark glazing along the main deck stretches the profile visually and breaks up the height through the centre of the yacht, while the raised pilothouse and layered deck arrangement give her the stance of a much larger tri-deck yacht. Stainless rails, teak detailing and broad side decks reinforce the classic American motor yacht feel that Destiny became known for.
Outdoor living centres around three main areas. The aft deck works as the primary dining space underway, with room for eight to ten guests beneath the overhang and direct flow into the saloon through wide sliding doors. Above, the flybridge opens into a far more relaxed setup with a Jacuzzi, wet bar, dining space and open lounging areas spread across the deck. The amount of usable space up here stands out immediately, helped by the yacht’s generous beam and uncluttered layout.
Aft of the flybridge sits the boat deck, with room for a 4.3m (14ft) tender alongside additional toys and deck equipment. The upper deck arrangement keeps operational areas separate from guest seating surprisingly well, so the social spaces never feel crowded even when fully set up.
Interior Design
Inside, Active Octo follows a more traditional luxury yacht style, though one softened by lighter tones and large windows throughout the main deck. High-gloss Italian Radica woodwork runs across the cabinetry, bulkheads and trim, contrasted by cream and beige furnishings that keep the rooms bright rather than overly formal.
The full-beam main saloon feels especially open for a yacht of this length. Entering from the aft deck, the lounge area sits aft with a large L-shaped sofa and occasional seating arranged around a central table, while the formal dining area moves forward beneath softer overhead lighting. A dedicated bar opposite the dining table helps break the room naturally into separate social zones without closing anything off.
Forward of the saloon, etched glass French doors lead into the galley. It is a practical working space with updated Bosch and GE appliances, broad countertops and enough separation from the guest areas for proper crew operation, though the finish still matches the rest of the yacht rather than feeling purely functional.
The raised pilothouse continues the more traditional approach with a centreline helm seat, chart table and elevated observation seating aft. Large forward windows bring strong visibility from the helm, while the slightly raised position gives the space a quieter, more private feel away from the main social decks.
Accommodation
Active Octo accommodates up to eight guests across four ensuite cabins, with the standout space being the bi-level owner’s suite on the main deck forward. This arrangement is rare on a yacht of this size and gives the cabin a noticeably different feel from the lower deck accommodation. Large windows on both sides bring in strong natural light and open sea views, while a short set of internal steps leads down into a dressing area and large ensuite bathroom with his-and-hers sinks.
Three further guest cabins sit below deck. The full-beam VIP spans the width of the hull and works comfortably as a second master suite thanks to its scale and his-and-hers bathroom arrangement. Forward of the VIP are two additional guest cabins, one double and one twin, each with private ensuite facilities.
The lower deck layout works particularly well for mixed guest groups because the VIP feels properly separate from the forward cabins, rather than simply larger. Warm timber finishes, soft carpeting and traditional cabinetry continue throughout the accommodation spaces, keeping the rooms cohesive with the main deck styling.
Crew accommodation sits forward with separate access from the guest areas. The captain’s cabin includes an oversized berth, while the second crew cabin uses upper and lower bunks. A small crew mess, laundry area and dedicated storage spaces support longer passages.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V4000M90) 2,735hp engines, motor yacht Active Octo is capable of reaching a top speed of 22 knots, and comfortably cruises at 19 knots. With her 17,790 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 806 nautical miles at 19 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
