More Details

Delivered in 2006, Aura is an award winning 40m motor yacht for sale built by New Zealander shipyard Alloy Yachts. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Dubois, while Donald Starkey is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • Sundeck Jacuzzi
  • Main deck owner’s suite
  • Transatlantic cruising range
  • Full-height salon windows

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.5m beam and a 2m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 294 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

he 40m (131.2ft) Alloy Yachts Aura has a long Dubois profile with a dark navy hull, pale superstructure and a fine raked bow. The low deckhouse, dark window line and raised aft decks give the yacht a clean, older-school shape.

Built in aluminium with exterior design and naval architecture by Dubois Naval Architects, Aura is a semi-displacement yacht with MCA compliance and Lloyd’s class credentials. Her recent 20-year Special Survey included a full mechanical restoration, system servicing and a hull polish, so the engineering work runs much deeper than surface presentation.

The aft section is a strong part of the layout. Broad steps curve down both sides to the swim platform, which gives easy access to the water and to the toy setup. Above, the main deck aft has dining for 10, a bar and a curved bench seat, all linked directly to the salon through wide sliding doors.

The sundeck has been refreshed with a new Jacuzzi, sunpads, lounge seating and a barbecue area. There's a broad, open deck with a hardtop above the central seating zone and plenty of free space aft, so it works well as the yacht’s main open-air social deck.

Interior Design

The main salon has a loose, relaxed seating layout rather than a rigid formal arrangement. Soft curved sofas and armchairs sit around glass and dark stone-topped tables, while low cabinetry and wide windows keep the space open. The ceiling design is a clear feature, with angular recessed panels and warm strip lighting that add shape without making the room feel busy.

The dining area sits forward of the lounge and uses the same mix of dark timber, soft upholstery and clean lighting. Marble-topped consoles and dark joinery add weight to the room, but the full-height windows stop it feeling heavy. The aft doors open straight to the deck, so the salon, dining space and aft cockpit work as one long guest area when the weather suits.

Accommodation

Aura offers accommodation for up to 11 guests in 5 suites comprising 3 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3412E) 1,450hp engines, motor yacht Aura is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 34,460 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.
