The new D36 Cabin builds on the success of its European Powerboat of the Year-winning De Antonio 36 Open while introducing a very different onboard experience.
An Award-Winning Platform Gets a New Direction
Rather than redesigning the platform, the D36 Cabin retains the proven 10.4-meter hull, hidden outboard propulsion and walkaround layout that helped establish the D36 as one of the standout boats in its class. The key change comes at the center of the main deck, where an enclosed glass wheelhouse transforms the De Antonio boat into a more versatile cruiser for owners who want greater protection from changing weather without moving into a much larger yacht.
The new model joins a growing market for premium enclosed dayboats and weekenders that blur the line between open sport boats and compact cruising yachts.
A Fully Enclosed Main Deck
The defining feature of the D36 Cabin is its enclosed superstructure. Large perimeter glazing surrounds the central living area, while sliding side doors and a folding accordion-style aft opening allow owners to switch quickly between an open-air cockpit and a sheltered interior.
Above, a rigid hardtop incorporates an opening roof section to maintain natural ventilation on warmer days, giving owners several different ways to configure the space depending on the conditions. This approach preserves the social feel of the original D36 while making the boat considerably more practical for shoulder-season cruising, longer passages or destinations where weather can change quickly.
Despite the additional enclosure, the D36 Cabin maintains the clean profile and hidden-engine arrangement that has become a defining characteristic of De Antonio's range.
Familiar Accommodation Below Deck
Accommodation remains unchanged from the open yacht, with two cabins and sleeping space for up to four guests, alongside a single bathroom. That layout positions the D36 Cabin as both a capable dayboat and a practical weekender, giving owners enough accommodation for overnight trips without sacrificing the generous deck spaces that define the design.
The hull is built in GRP and carries a beam of 3.4 meters, while capacity for up to 12 passengers makes the model equally suited to entertaining during the day.
Like other De Antonio models, propulsion comes from hidden twin outboard engines mounted beneath the aft sunpad rather than exposed on the transom. Buyers can choose from five Mercury Verado configurations ranging from twin 300hp V8s up to twin 400hp V10s, with joystick piloting available on selected packages. Depending on engine choice, De Antonio quotes a cruising speed of around 26 knots and a top speed of up to 43 knots.
The Open Alternative Remains in the Lineup
The arrival of the D36 Cabin does not replace the award-winning D36 Open. Instead, it gives buyers two distinct interpretations of the same platform. The D36 Open remains aimed at owners who prioritize open-air cruising, with generous sunbathing areas, walkaround decks and accommodation for up to four guests in two cabins.
Following its launch, the model received industry recognition including the 2023 European Powerboat of the Year award and a 2023 Motor Boat Award. Buyers can now choose between the original open layout or the added weather protection of the new Cabin version while retaining the same proven platform.
