Inside the Mengi Yay NL 50 Plus Superyacht: A New Vision for Mediterranean Cruising

Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay has unveiled the interior design and key details of the 52m Mengi Yay NL 50 Plus superyacht, which is currently under construction at the builder’s Tuzla facility.

As the first yacht in the new Mengi Yay NL 50 Plus series, the vessel's design emphasizes what Mengi Yay describes as “essential luxury,” pairing refined proportions with sculpted lines and practical detailing.

A Collaborative Vision for the NL 50 Plus

The NL 50 Plus brings together two experienced teams: Mengi Yay, known for its growing superyacht portfolio, and Nuvolari Lenard, the Venice-based design studio behind the yacht’s exterior styling and interiors. Hüseyin Mengi, Chairman of Mengi Yay, praised the partnership, noting that Nuvolari Lenard’s input has brought “new ideas, concrete experience, and a tangible increase in product quality.”

Naval architecture is by Van Oossanen, whose highly efficient hull design supports a 12-knot cruising speed and a maximum speed of 16.5 knots. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, the yacht is engineered for a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles, allowing owners to plan extended cruising itineraries on both sides of the Atlantic.

A Calm, Modern Interior Designed for Laid-Back Living

The interiors of the NL 50 Plus reflect a focus on calm, contemporary living. Nuvolari Lenard has developed a casual yet sophisticated style, with warm tones, minimalist lines, and an emphasis on high-quality materials like premium woods, richly veined marbles, and bespoke furnishings. The design approach avoids excess, instead creating a versatile canvas that invites owners to personalize the spaces to their tastes.

Natural light is a key theme throughout the superyacht for sale. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in the main saloon and dining area flood the interiors with daylight, while the upper deck saloon flows directly into a private alfresco lounge. Here, glass windbreak doors shield the area without compromising the connection to the sea. Lighting is carefully considered, with a variety of fixtures enhancing the textures and finishes from day to night.

Standout features onboard the motor yacht for sale include a glass-rimmed pool on the main deck aft, fold-down bulwarks that create a larger beach club area, and a drop-down swim platform that extends the terrace over the water. The sundeck, one of the largest in her class, offers a heated spa pool, a fire pit, and flexible dining and lounging spaces beneath a hardtop with sliding glass doors.

Accommodation Layout That Prioritizes Comfort and Flow

The NL 50 Plus is designed to accommodate up to 10 guests in comfort. The owner’s suite, located forward on the main deck, covers 50 square meters and features a private office, a walk-in wardrobe, a spa-inspired bathroom, and a sliding balcony that can be operated by the owner for added privacy. The balcony has two modes: when closed, it leaves a small terrace accessible via a window door; when fully extended, the rail system moves into place automatically, creating a seamless outdoor space.

Four VIP guest staterooms are situated on the lower deck of the yacht for sale, while eight crew members are housed in dedicated quarters, ensuring smooth operations during longer voyages. Service areas have been thoughtfully designed to support guest experiences without disruption.

Flexibility for Buyers

Although the NL 50 Plus is currently under construction on spec, there remains time for a buyer to tailor the yacht’s layout and finishes.

With delivery scheduled for 2026, the project presents a rare opportunity for an owner to influence key design decisions within an established framework. Nuvolari Lenard envisions the yacht as a platform for indoor-outdoor living, with a flow between spaces that enhances the Mediterranean lifestyle.

Mengi Yay NL 50 Plus is on the market with Camper & Nicholsons International and is currently asking €34,600,000.

Mengi Yay’s Growing Fleet

Mengi Yay’s current order book features several significant builds, reflecting both market demand and the shipyard’s evolving expertise. Among them is the second hull of the Virtus XP series, a 53m explorer yacht designed by VYD Studio, featuring an ice-classed steel hull, an upper deck owner's suite with direct helipad access, and a 98-square-meter pool deck.
