Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement wood hull and superstructure she features a 6.52m beam and a 2.44m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 122 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Sobre Las Olas features elegant 1920s design lines, with a raked stem, rounded bilges, and a sweeping fantail stern. Her 32-metre (105-foot) length and traditional wooden construction give her a commanding presence, complemented by teak decks that have been fully re-sanded and re-caulked. More than a third of her wood hull has been replanked in Douglas fir, preserving her classic structure while maintaining seaworthiness.
The exterior spaces are arranged with comfort and socialising in mind. The aft deck includes a circular dining table with five chairs, a U-shaped lounge, and a wheeled wet bar with refrigerator. The upper bridge deck houses a built-in bar with stainless steel sink and ice maker, additional seating, and a three-compartment storage locker for LPG tanks. Radial steel boat davits are positioned at the stern, and a bronze-and-teak boarding ladder on the starboard side operates via a dedicated radial davit.
Forward deck access, deck lights on the mast spreaders, and full protective canvas covers are part of her exterior setup, ensuring both usability and preservation. The steel bulkhead forward divides the forepeak from the rest of the hull, while stairwells and companionways offer fluid transitions between deck levels.
Interior Design
The yacht’s interior brings together original materials with carefully integrated updates. The dining saloon retains its Honduras mahogany panelling, with rewired and re-chromed original lighting fixtures adding period character. A custom oval dining table comfortably seats eight and is surrounded by original cabinetry.
The lounge includes a U-shaped settee, an electrically-lifted television concealed in cabinetry, and multiple access points to side decks and other interior areas. The adjoining office space features a built-in desk and connects to a pantry, while stairwells lead both to guest and aft accommodations.
The galley has been fully modernised, now equipped with a GE LPG 4-burner range with grill, griddle and twin ovens, a GE fridge/freezer with icemaker, KitchenAid dishwasher and trash compactor, a wine cooler, dual stainless steel sinks, and Summit drawer-style refrigerators. Extensive counter space and storage enhance usability for extended cruising.
Located on the bridge deck, the pilothouse features traditional chain-and-cable steering and opens onto side decks. It is followed by the captain’s cabin with an athwartships berth.
Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 people, including owner, guest, and crew quarters. The yacht features four guest cabins: a master suite, a VIP cabin, one double, and one twin, each with its own en suite bathroom. An aft guest cabin includes raised berths to port and starboard, a U-shaped settee, lockers, and natural light via two deadlights.
The guest accommodation forward is well appointed, with a large athwartships double berth, a settee, cabinetry, an electric head, and an enclosed stall shower with tub. Crew quarters are positioned in the bow and sleep up to five, comprising tandem upper and lower berths, a single-berth cabin, a settee, and additional storage. A scuttle hatch provides deck access from the crew area.
The captain’s cabin is located aft of the pilothouse and includes an athwartships berth. Practical features such as companionways, stairwells between decks, and a deck-access lazarette complete the liveaboard layout.
