Bombay is a 49.8m motor yacht for sale delivered by Italian shipyard Benetti in 2016. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Benetti.
Key Features
- 49.80m (163.5ft) Benetti yacht
- 135sqm sundeck
- Owner’s balcony
- Foredeck hot tub lounge
Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement GRP hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.26m beam and a 2.7m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 487 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2013 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Breeze'. This was the second yacht built on the FB800 Series design. She was completed at Benetti's Viareggio yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in October 2016.
Exterior Design
Bombay carries the clean, streamlined look that defined Benetti’s now discontinued FB800 series, but the 49.80m (163.5ft) platform still has real presence on the water. The aluminium superstructure sits low over the GRP hull, giving the yacht a flatter, more streamlined stance than many traditional tri-deck yachts of this size. Long dark glazing cuts through the white topsides from bow to stern, visually lowering the profile and pulling the decks together into one continuous shape.
The lines lean forward with purpose. The bow stays near vertical and free from excess flare, while the superstructure uses long overhangs and dark recessed glass to sharpen the yacht’s silhouette. From some angles, the upper decks almost appear to float above the hull.
Outdoor living plays a huge role in the design. The aft decks step gently down toward a large beach club and extended swim platform at sea level, creating a strong connection with the water. Up top, the sundeck stretches across 135sqm and gives Bombay multiple zones for dining, lounging and entertaining. Forward on the bridge deck, a private terrace centres around a large hot tub flanked by sunpads and open views over the bow.
The main deck owner’s suite includes one of the yacht’s defining exterior details - a fixed structural balcony built directly into the superstructure. Rather than folding outward, the balcony remains part of the yacht’s shape at all times, keeping the exterior lines clean and uninterrupted.
Tender storage has also been carefully integrated into the design. The main 7m (23ft) tender, secondary tender and jet skis all sit inside concealed garage spaces, leaving the decks uncluttered and guest-focused.
Accommodation
Bombay accommodates up to 11 guests across five ensuite cabins. The main deck owner’s suite spans the full beam and benefits from direct natural light through the structural balcony and oversized windows.
Four additional guest cabins sit on the lower deck, including two VIP cabins and two twin cabins. One additional Pullman berth allows the yacht to accommodate an eleventh guest when required.
Crew accommodation supports up to 11 crew across seven cabins, allowing for full service during extended cruising and charter operations while maintaining strong separation between guest and operational spaces.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 ACERT) 12-cylinder 1,600hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Bombay is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 62,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,660 nautical miles at 12 knots making her well capable of long range and transatlantic voyages. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
Amenities
In addition, adjoining the water, a beach club lets those on board enjoy the feeling of being close to the sea. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Bombay also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
