Its induction follows YachtBuyer's world-first test of hull number one, securing the Targa 58 GTO a place among the select production yachts recognized in the YachtBuyer Hall of Fame through the brand's independent testing program.
Fairline Targa 58 GTO Makes YB 5 Star Cannes Debut
Fairline brought the first Targa 58 GTO to Cannes for its public world premiere, marking the culmination of a rapid development program for the British builder's new sports cruiser flagship.
Ahead of the show, YachtBuyer Reviews Director Jack Haines tested hull number one in the Solent. The review examined the yacht across its performance, construction, accommodation, helm, deck layout and value, with the final result earning the model an overall YB 5 Star score.
Fairline subsequently acknowledged the result as the yacht made its Cannes debut, noting that the review had recognized areas including its transom arrangement, indoor-outdoor layout, performance and detailing.
The formal trophy presentation at Cannes completed the induction, putting the Targa 58 GTO into the YachtBuyer Hall of Fame during the same event at which buyers were able to step aboard the production model for the first time.

Why the Fairline Targa 58 GTO Earned a YB 5 Star Rating
The Targa 58 GTO measures 17.96m with a 4.99m beam and has accommodation for six guests across three cabins. It shares its underlying hull architecture and lower-deck arrangement with the Fairline Squadron 58, but the Targa takes a different approach above deck, with a low profile and much greater emphasis on the stern.
That aft arrangement became one of the strongest parts of the YachtBuyer test. Twin fold-down terraces extend the usable cockpit area, while the hydraulic bathing platform provides direct access to the water. A dedicated tender garage keeps the bathing platform clear and can be used as an additional waterside space once the tender has been launched.
The cockpit covers around 27 square meters with the terraces deployed. An aft door can disappear into the deck, opening the salon directly onto the cockpit, while an exterior galley, large dining area and substantial aft sunpad give the main deck several practical uses without breaking up circulation through the boat.
The helm was another high point - the central driving position places the helmsman high behind the windscreen, with an electrically adjustable seat and a control pod that moves with it. Hull number one carried three Garmin displays, while physical controls remain available for frequently used systems.
Targa 58 GTO Sea Trial: Performance, Range and Handling
Two Volvo Penta D13 engine options are available, rated at 900hp or 1,000hp per side and driving through conventional shafts. YachtBuyer's test boat used the larger D13-1000 installation. During testing, the Targa 58 GTO reached 32.5 knots and recorded 25.4 knots at 2,200rpm. At that cruising speed, YachtBuyer calculated a range of 215 nautical miles with 10 percent of the fuel capacity held in reserve. The test was conducted with 2,700 liters of fuel, 600 liters of water and seven people aboard.
The test also found the yacht responsive for its size, with predictable shaft-drive handling and positive control during close-quarters maneuvering. It was not without criticism. Interior noise reached 75dB at cruising speed, while the tender garage reduces machinery-space headroom and some of the yacht's key features, including the folding terraces, remain optional rather than standard.
How the YachtBuyer Hall of Fame Works
The YachtBuyer Hall of Fame records production yachts that have reached the YB 5 Star standard through YachtBuyer's independent yacht review and sea trial program. The Targa 58 GTO is now listed among the Hall of Fame's 2026 inductees.
