More Details

The 37.5m motor yacht Invictus was delivered to her owners in 2006 by American shipyard Palmer Johnson. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Nuvolari Lenard, while Palmer Johnson is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • 28-knot top speed
  • Palmer Johnson 123 Sports Flybridge motor yacht
  • Wide-body main saloon
  • MTU/DDEC engines and generators

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.31m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 255 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the second yacht built on the PJ 123 design.

Exterior Design

Invictus is one of only three Palmer Johnson 123 Sports Flybridge yachts built and remains a good example of the yard's approach during the mid-2000s. While many yachts of this length adopted increasingly tall superstructures, Palmer Johnson went in a different direction. The profile sits low over the water, with a long sweep of dark glazing running through the white topsides and a compact flybridge that barely interrupts the line of the yacht.

The effect is clear in the photographs. Even alongside other large yachts, Invictus looks long, lean and quick. The hull carries very little visual weight, while the glazing stretches almost continuously from the owner's suite to the aft deck. Nearly twenty years after launch, the proportions still look remarkably current.

The aft deck is one of the yacht's strongest entertaining spaces. A large oval teak dining table seats up to ten guests, while a full-service bar with fixed stools sits forward. Twin staircases descend to the swim platform and a central staircase leads directly to the flybridge, making it easy to move between decks without guests constantly crossing through seating areas.

Above, the flybridge takes full advantage of the yacht's beam. There is a dining table for eight beneath the hardtop, alongside a wet bar, barbecue, refrigerators and ice maker. Forward, a Jacuzzi sits between generous sunpads, while a retractable television adds another option for evenings at anchor. A Boston Whaler 170 Montauk tender and twin personal watercraft are carried aft and handled by a substantial crane system.

At water level, a fold-down section of transom creates a beach club area. It is a feature that feels commonplace today but was relatively unusual when Invictus launched in 2006. Combined with the large swim platform, passerelle and boarding ladder, it creates a strong connection to the water without sacrificing deck space elsewhere.

Interior Design

The wide-body layout shapes almost everything about the interior. By reducing the side decks to narrow access routes, Palmer Johnson was able to push the saloon much further outboard than normal, creating a room that feels unusually broad for a 37.5m (123ft) yacht. It is one of the first things visitors notice when stepping aboard.

The 2024 refit refreshed the interior while retaining the yacht's original character. American walnut flooring runs throughout the main spaces, paired with matte mahogany joinery and large windows that keep the rooms feeling bright.

An L-shaped sofa, armchairs and a central teak table form the main seating area. Forward, the dining space seats eight around a custom high-gloss table with inlaid detailing, while built-in cabinetry provides storage for glassware, crockery and serving pieces.

The galley is a substantial space, fitted with Wolf induction cooking equipment, steam ovens, Sub-Zero refrigeration and a Miele dishwasher. Large windows above the work surfaces bring in plenty of daylight, something that is often missing from yacht galleys.

Aft of the bridge, the skylounge includes a walk-up bar, fireplace, office area and lounge seating arranged around large windows. Double stainless steel-framed glass doors open directly onto the aft deck, allowing the room to function as an extension of the outdoor space when conditions permit.

The pilothouse sits forward and uses twin Stidd helm chairs, Garmin navigation equipment and a clean, businesslike console layout with excellent visibility.

Accommodation

Invictus accommodates up to 12 guests across four cabins and carries a crew of up to six.

The owner's suite occupies the forward section of the main deck and benefits from large windows on either side. A king-size berth sits centrally within the room, while cedar-lined walk-in wardrobes provide an impressive amount of storage. Forward, the bathroom is arranged with separate his-and-hers facilities connected by a large shared shower finished in Calacatta Vagli Oro marble.

The full-beam VIP suite spans the aft section of the lower deck and has the scale of a second owner's cabin. A queen-size berth sits at the centre of the room, while a large walk-in wardrobe, vanity desk and generous marble bathroom occupy the surrounding space. The separation from the other guest cabins gives it a particularly private feel.

Two further guest cabins sit forward on the lower deck, each fitted with a queen berth, cedar-lined storage and an en suite bathroom. The port cabin also includes a Pullman berth, allowing the yacht to accommodate additional guests when required.

Crew accommodation is arranged separately and includes a captain's cabin, additional crew cabins, crew mess and dedicated laundry facilities. The layout allows crew to move efficiently between the galley, guest areas and technical spaces while remaining largely out of sight.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12v 4000 M90) 2,735hp engines, motor yacht Invictus is capable of reaching a top speed of 23 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 28,766 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,152 nautical miles at 14 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
