Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.33m beam and a 3.85m draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 878 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

The 65.4m (214.5ft) North Sea carries herself with the dignity of a true classic. Her steel hull and aluminium superstructure were rebuilt in Casablanca, carefully shaped to preserve the original silhouette while refining every line into the profile of a gentleman’s yacht. Riveted portholes and long, sweeping decks recall her 1960s origins, while the entire aluminium superstructure was re-riveted to its original form, reinstating the timeless geometry that defined early passenger vessels.

Deck spaces flow easily from open lounging to elegant dining areas. The upper aft deck is laid out for sunbathing and relaxed seating, while the foredeck hosts a classically styled spa pool positioned just ahead of the helipad. A newly designed side door opens at water level to the lower deck, leading guests directly into the indoor pool and spa area that now forms one of the yacht’s most distinctive entrances.

Interior Design

Inside, North Sea blends the elegance of an early-century liner with the richness of Moroccan craftsmanship. The La Sultana Group’s in-house design studio worked with Orion Naval Engineering to completely reimagine her spaces. The result is an interior that feels both exotic and familiar, mixing art deco structure with the refined detail of the belle époque.

Moroccan artisans shaped elaborate joinery in mahogany, cherry wood and Atlas cedar, while the floors are laid in millettia and Brazilian cherry, and the decks in iroko and ipe. Marble and onyx lend depth to the en suites, velvet and embroidered silk soften the saloons, and brass accents add subtle shine. Artworks by Jilali Gharbaoui and Edouard Edy-Legrand punctuate the interior with a sense of place and history.

At the centre is a sweeping staircase inspired by Louis Majorelle’s Monnaie du Pape banister. Rising through the decks in mahogany and wrought iron, it anchors the yacht’s social spaces in sculptural form.  .

A number of preserved details connect the yacht to her past. The original Chadburn engine order telegraph, marked in Cyrillic, and the steering gear controls remain as decorative pieces. The ship’s bell has become an outdoor shower, while the old electrical control panel now forms the centrepiece of an intimate lounge area in the engine room, paired with mid-century armchairs beneath a skylight.

Accommodation

North Sea accommodates up to 12 guests in seven suites across three decks, attended by a crew of 17. The most generous space is the Armateur Suite, a 66m² (710ft²) private apartment on the upper deck. Its circular bed faces the horizon through wide portholes, with a private terrace overlooking the foredeck. The suite also includes a richly detailed sitting room and a dedicated office.

On the main deck, two Deluxe Suites of 36m² (387.5ft²) each offer king-size or twin beds, large en suites and dressing tables. The lower deck holds four Prestige Cabins, each with 22m² (236.8ft²) of space, en suite showers and flatscreen televisions.
