Virtus XP introduces a new flagship for Mengi Yay

Gray Wolf represents a step up in both size and long-range capability for Mengi Yay, becoming the largest yacht completed by the shipyard and establishing the identity of its new Virtus XP explorer platform. VYD Studio has given the yacht a purposeful profile characterised by a near-vertical bow, strong horizontal glazing and stepped deck lines, while the full-displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure reflect her offshore brief. Rather than adopting the overtly utilitarian appearance of a traditional explorer, the design uses extensive glazing and clean surfaces to retain a contemporary superyacht character while supporting the yacht's focus on extended periods at sea.

The exterior arrangement onboard the motor yacht places significant emphasis on open-air living, with multiple aft deck areas for lounging and dining alongside a swimming pool, helipad and dedicated tender storage. A series of sheltered spaces across the upper decks supports outdoor use during longer passages, while the layout separates guest areas from the yacht's more operational functions. Gray Wolf also features a gym, while her expansive deck arrangement provides multiple areas for guests to spend time outdoors during extended cruising.

VYD Studio is also responsible for the expedition yacht's interior, carrying the same design approach through the yacht's guest spaces. Accommodation is provided for up to 10 guests across five suites, with up to nine crew onboard. Large areas of glazing strengthen the connection with the surroundings, while Mengi Yay has placed particular emphasis on spatial continuity, ease of use and the flow between interior and exterior areas, supporting the yacht's focus on spending extended periods at sea.

Gray Wolf reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots, with a range of approximately 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her long-range credentials are supported by more than 65,000 litres of fuel capacity, alongside 15,000 litres of freshwater and 11,500 litres of black and grey water capacity. The 53m yacht has a 9.48m beam, a 2.6m draft and an internal volume of 499GT. She holds RINA C+ Hull • MACH • YCh Unrestricted classification and complies with REG Yacht Code, DMS and Ice Class Comfort Class requirements.

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Mengi Yay currently has seven yachts in its order book, with several projects extending the builder's presence in the 50m-plus market. Among them is Amphib II, the second Virtus XP hull, which was launched in July 2026 and continues the explorer platform introduced by Gray Wolf. Another is the 52m Mengi Yay NL 52 Plus, a Nuvolari Lenard-designed project currently under construction for delivery in 2027.
