Design & Construction

Designed around a catamaran composite hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 298 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Launched in February 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Shu U Rite is a 34.1m (111.9ft) Curvelle catamaran with exterior design by Mauro Giamboi and naval architecture by Incat Crowther. The profile works to mask the yacht’s multihull form, with a low, flowing superstructure and continuous glazing that looks closer to a monohull at first glance. A beam of 9m (29.6ft) drives the overall concept, giving the yacht a noticeably wider stance and around 50 percent more usable space than a single-hull yacht of similar length.

The hull and superstructure are built in carbon hybrid composite, which reduces structural weight and allows for increased internal volume and headroom. This construction also supports large openings across the design, most notably the guest cabin windows, which measure 2.7m (8.9ft) wide and 1m (3.3ft) high, running as long horizontal panels that strengthen the connection to the water.

From the image, the bow sections sit low and broad across both hulls, with clean cutwater entries and minimal overhang. The superstructure carries a curved roofline that sweeps aft into an extended canopy, creating a sheltered upper deck terrace. Dark-tinted glazing wraps around the main deck level, set beneath a smooth white overhang that softens the profile.

The top deck is arranged as an open leisure space beneath a radar arch and bimini. A spa pool sits at one end behind a glass windbreak, with sun loungers set around it and a wet bar positioned to port. The space remains flexible, with open deck areas that can take loose furniture or additional sunbeds depending on use.

A central aft platform spans the gap between the two hulls. This 6m (19.7ft) wide structure lowers hydraulically and acts as both a swim platform and a tender launch system, with a tested lifting capacity of up to three tonnes. The arrangement allows tenders, personal watercraft or equipment to be deployed directly from the main deck level without separate cranes.

Side access runs along both hulls, with practical walkways linking foredeck, main deck and aft platform. The overall exterior stays focused on volume and usability, with clean surfaces, broad glazing and minimal visual clutter.

Shu U Rite, designed by Mauro Giamboi, combines the elegance of a monohull with the space of a catamaran, featuring expansive windows, versatile dining areas, and luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests.

Interior Design

The main saloon is arranged as a central social space, with an L-shaped sofa and armchairs set around a flexible seating layout. Large windows on both sides bring in consistent natural light, which keeps the space bright across the full beam.

Materials are selected for durability and ease of upkeep. White leather upholstery sits alongside American oak joinery, while Bolon woven flooring runs through the main living areas, offering a practical surface with a softer finish underfoot.

Dining areas use modular table sections that can expand or reduce depending on guest numbers. On the upper deck, the dining space sits beside a retractable portside glass wall, which opens fully to connect the interior with the exterior deck. The starboard side remains fixed, so the space keeps structure while still opening out when required.

Accommodation

Shu U Rite accommodates up to 12 guests across six cabins, all positioned on the main deck. The arrangement includes four cabins aft of a central spiral staircase and two additional cabins forward.

The layout can be reconfigured using sliding bulkheads. Cabins can combine to form three larger suites, with the second cabin in each pair converting into a lounge area. Bathrooms can also be joined to create his-and-hers arrangements, while beds can switch between double and twin setups depending on use.

Each cabin includes large windows measuring 2.7m (8.9ft) by 1m (3.3ft), which bring in strong natural light and reinforce the wide, open feel created by the catamaran platform.

Crew accommodation sits within both hulls on the lower deck, with three en suite double cabins for a crew of up to 6. These areas also house the galley, laundry, engine rooms and support spaces, with separate access routes from the foredeck and main deck to maintain guest privacy.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 Acert) 1,900hp engines running at 1.4rpm, motor yacht Shu U Rite is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 23,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,345 nautical miles.

Amenities

In addition, Shu U Rite features a beach club where those on board can enjoy unwinding close to the water. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Shu U Rite also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
