The Sportsfish range is broadly split into two parts, four versions of the 45ft GX45, and four models from 54-70ft. The GT45X is such a good hull that to not offer as many variants would be a crying shame. She comes as a flybridge version, open or with a hard top. The latter two are also available with half or full-tower options aimed squarely at the sportsfishing market.
All boats in the Sportfish range feature a large, open cockpit, with ample room to wrestle with your aquatic quarry. On the GT45X it’s a few steps up is the wheelhouse area, which benefits from lots of easy-to-clean GRP. On all other models the single helm position is on the flybridge and the steps lead to a saloon/galley area.
Inside is where the build quality of Hatteras is really obvious. All models have the high-quality interiors that one is used to seeing on production sports cruisers rather than the sometimes utilitarian-led interiors of many European sports fishers. As the models get larger the exterior styling remains unflappably similar: all have the distinctive flared bows, the minimalist long flat foredeck, elegantly curved sheerline and wraparound dark window line – only the size of people on board seem to get bigger as the boats get smaller.
All models feature hull tunnels and an air-induction system to create a layer of air between the prop and hull to reduce vibration, cavitation and noise. This, along with the blade-like entry at the bow and double chines, allows most boats to cruise at 30 knots and they can, depending on engine choice, make up to 40 knots.
