More Details

The 33.91m motor yacht Arago was delivered to her owners in 2009 by British shipyard Sunseeker. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Sunseeker, while Don Shead Yacht Design is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • Spacious flybridge deck
  • 24-knot top speed
  • Enlarged tender garage
  • 1,250nm cruising range

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.39m beam and a 2.49m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 225 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the tenth yacht built on the 34 Metre Yacht design.

Exterior Design

Arago is a Sunseeker 34 Metre Yacht, a model that marked an important step in the builder's move into the superyacht sector. As Hull 10 of a 15-yacht production run, she benefits from the later evolution of the design, including the revised stern arrangement and enlarged tender garage introduced on later examples.

The profile remains one of the most recognisable in Sunseeker's history. Don Shead's naval architecture and Sunseeker's in-house styling combine a raised pilothouse layout with sharp, angular lines and a distinctly sporty stance. The dark blue hull shown in the photographs works particularly well with the design, helping to visually lower the profile while highlighting the yacht's long glazing bands and aggressive arch supports.

Large windows run through the main deck and owner's suite, bringing excellent natural light into the interior while reducing the visual bulk of the superstructure. The raised wheelhouse creates a commanding appearance without the height of a tri-deck yacht, giving Arago a sleek and well-balanced look for a yacht approaching 34m (111.3ft).

The later stern design is one of the yacht's most practical features. The extended swim platform provides a good connection to the water, while the oversized garage is capable of carrying a substantial tender and water toys without compromising guest areas.

The flybridge has excellent views, generous seating and plenty of room to relax underway or at anchor. Combined with the aft deck and foredeck spaces, it gives guests several distinct outdoor areas rather than relying on a single entertaining deck.

Interior Design

Arago's interior follows a classic Sunseeker approach, with high-gloss walnut joinery, large windows and a practical layout that prioritises comfort and usability. While many yachts of this age have undergone extensive redesigns, Arago appears to have retained much of the original character that made the 34 Metre Yacht so successful.

The main saloon is a particularly good example. Rich timber finishes bring warmth to the space, while large side windows prevent the darker wood tones from feeling heavy. The arrangement of sofas creates a comfortable and welcoming lounge area, with plenty of seating for owners and guests without making the room feel crowded.

Forward, the dining area forms part of the same open-plan space and benefits from easy access to the galley and service areas. Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems were installed throughout the yacht, allowing the saloon to function equally well as a quiet retreat or an evening gathering space.

Accommodation

Arago accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins and carries a professional crew of 6 to support extended cruising.

The owner's suite occupies a prime position on the main deck forward. Large forward-facing windows bring in excellent natural light and provide views ahead while underway. The suite includes a spacious double berth, generous wardrobe space, a vanity area and a private office space. Overhead skylights above the bed add another source of natural light during the day and provide views of the night sky at anchor.

The en suite bathroom is particularly spacious, featuring a large Jacuzzi bathtub and a multipoint shower system. Together with the cabin's beam and forward location, it creates a very comfortable owner's apartment for a yacht of this size.

Guest accommodation consists of a mix of double and twin cabins on the lower deck. Each cabin has large hull windows, generous storage, entertainment systems and its own en suite bathroom. The layout offers good flexibility for families, couples or charter groups, while maintaining a consistent standard throughout the accommodation.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V2000 M93) 2,435hp engines, motor yacht Arago is capable of reaching a top speed of 24 knots, and comfortably cruises at 21 knots. With her 14,450 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 600 nautical miles at 20 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.

Amenities

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Arago also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
