First Columbus Crossover 47 Vessel Reaches New Construction Milestone at Palumbo Superyachts

The first Crossover 47 motor yacht is steadily advancing through construction at Palumbo Superyachts' Savona shipyard, with newly released images showcasing key structural elements of the 47m yacht as the project moves closer to completion.

Part of Columbus' growing Crossover range, the Columbus Yachts Crossover 47 features explorer-style capability, expansive onboard living spaces and contemporary design.

A crossover concept designed for versatility

The superyacht has been conceived to bridge the gap between traditional explorer yachts and modern lifestyle-focused motor yachts. The design prioritises long-range cruising while maintaining the spacious social areas and comfort levels expected of a contemporary superyacht. Recent construction photographs highlight the yacht's steel framework and evolving superstructure, providing a rare look behind the scenes as the vessel takes shape.

A versatile aft deck that transforms from toy carrier to beach club

At the heart of the Crossover 47 concept is an expansive aft deck designed to serve multiple purposes. During passage-making, the area can accommodate a tender weighing up to 3,000kg, launched via a crane integrated into the upper deck structure. Once at anchor, the same space transforms into a lifestyle-focused beach club complete with a jacuzzi, sunpads and direct access to the water. Fold-down bulwarks further increase usable deck space, creating a broad sea terrace that enhances the connection to the surrounding environment. Additional exterior amenities include a second pool, generous lounging areas, al fresco dining spaces and a large sundeck sheltered beneath a hardtop.

Hot Lab interiors balance practicality with superyacht comfort

While the yacht's full interior design remains under wraps, Hot Lab has created a layout centred around comfort and functionality for extended cruising. The main deck features a spacious lounge and formal dining area for up to 12 guests, seamlessly connected to the aft deck. An upper-deck skylounge provides a second social space, offering flexibility for guests during longer voyages. Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across six cabins, including a full-beam owner's suite on the main deck. The suite benefits from panoramic views, a private office area and generous wardrobe space, while the lower deck houses four additional guest cabins comprising two doubles and two twins with Pullman berths.

Twin Caterpillar power and a 5,000nm cruising range

Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines, the Columbus Crossover 47 is expected to reach a top speed of 15 knots and deliver a transoceanic range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Measuring 47m with an 8.6m beam, 3m draft and a volume of 499GT, the yacht has been designed to balance long-range cruising capability with substantial guest accommodation and versatile deck spaces.

The project also highlights Columbus Yachts' continued investment in its crossover and explorer-inspired portfolio. According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the Italian shipyard is currently expanding both its Crossover and Atlantique ranges, with new additions to the Columbus Crossover 42 and the Columbus Atlantique 38M series under construction. Among the most notable recent projects is the second Columbus Crossover 42 superyacht, a project part of a model that introduced the brand's distinctive aft-deck-first philosophy and laid the foundations for the larger Crossover 47. Additionally, currently under construction is the second Atlantique 38M superyacht. A vessel that features a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure.
