The original first-generation Fairline Targa 47 ran from 2005 to 2012, so the new boat revives a familiar model name while repositioning it for today’s market. The new version shifts the formula toward greater onboard flexibility and a more contemporary layout.
How the New Model Builds on Its Predecessor
The new Targa 47 GT builds on a well-established name within the Fairline Targa series. The original Fairline Targa 47, produced between 2005 and 2012, was positioned as the flagship of the range at the time and became known as a capable sportsboat with strong performance credentials.
That earlier model measured 14.78 meters, offered two cabins for four guests, and could reach speeds of up to 35 knots. It focused on straightforward, performance-led boating, with a layout suited to short stays and weekend use.
The new generation boat remains close in size but shifts the brief. Accommodation has been expanded, with layouts now structured around greater flexibility and the potential to host up to six guests. The emphasis moves beyond pure speed toward a more rounded cruising profile, supported by updated helm technology and a broader approach to onboard living. Rather than replicating the earlier formula, the Targa 47 GT repositions the 47-foot platform for current expectations.
Evolving the Targa Exterior
The exterior marks one of the most visible changes on the yacht. Fairline has given the Targa 47 GT a more contemporary profile, aligning it with the brand’s latest design direction while maintaining the low, sporty stance associated with the range.
A key part of the concept is the choice between Open and GT configurations. The Open version leans toward a more exposed, day-focused setup, while the GT introduces a hardtop arrangement designed for greater protection and extended usability across varying conditions. This dual approach gives owners a clear decision based on how and where they intend to use the boat.
Built in GRP with a planing hull, the Targa 47 GT is designed to deliver speeds of up to 32 knots. Volvo Penta engine options support that performance profile, with the model positioned around responsive handling and comfortable cruising speeds.
Inside the New Targa 47 GT
The main deck is structured to support easy movement between spaces, with an emphasis on practical day-to-day use rather than purely formal arrangement. Large glazing elements are expected to play a role in bringing natural light into the saloon, reinforcing a more open feel throughout the interior of the motor yacht.
Fairline highlights a two-stateroom, two-head configuration centered around a spacious midships master cabin, aimed at owners planning longer weekends on board. At the same time, broader model data indicates accommodation for up to six guests across three cabins, pointing to multiple layout options within the same platform.
At the helm, the introduction of a modern glassbridge setup reflects a shift toward more integrated digital control. This aligns the driving position with current expectations, while maintaining the hands-on appeal that has long been central to the Targa series.
