Designed by Cor D. Rover, the third Zeelander 8 is now departing the yard's facility in Groot-Ammers ahead of her public debut at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show.
A Zeelander Shaped by Owner Experience
Unlike many custom projects that begin with a blank sheet of paper, Solea was commissioned by an owner already familiar with life aboard a Zeelander. Having spent extended periods cruising aboard a Zeelander 7 without permanent crew, the brief focused on retaining the qualities he valued most while creating more space for longer stays and entertaining.
According to Zeelander founder and chairman Sietse Koopmans, that firsthand experience resulted in one of the most personalized Zeelander 8s delivered so far.
[The owner] came to us having already lived weeks at a time with a Zeelander 7, working and resting aboard. He knew exactly what he wanted more of. The result is deeply personal, and in our view, one of the finest Zeelander 8s we have built."

Zeelander Yachts
Visually, Solea immediately stands apart from her sisterships, Silver Dawn and Mojo. While the earlier Zeelander 8s featured lighter exterior finishes, the latest hull adopts a darker metallic gray profile that emphasizes the model's flowing lines and low-slung silhouette.
Entertaining Takes Center Stage
The owner's experience aboard a previous Zeelander 7 heavily influenced Solea's interior and social spaces, with the brief focused on creating more room for entertaining and extended stays on board the yacht. At the heart of the main salon is a large dining table that serves as the primary gathering space, while a generously sized galley remains integrated into the living area rather than separated from it.
Zeelander's signature curved sliding window opens the salon directly onto the aft deck, creating a natural flow between the two spaces. Aft, the traditional bar arrangement has been replaced by an oversized L-shaped sofa positioned within a sheltered corner of the cockpit - a feature inspired by the owner's favorite seating area aboard his previous motor yacht.
The interior of the boat is equally distinctive in its material selection. Swamp oak, a timber recovered from riverbeds after decades underwater, is used extensively throughout. The wood's near-black appearance, created through years of mineral absorption, is paired with premium leathers and Porsche Agate detailing, creating a subtle, richly textured finish that differs from previous Zeelander interiors.
Fast, Quiet and Long-Legged
Solea is powered by four Volvo Penta IPS-1350 engines generating a total of 4,000hp, a configuration that propelled the yacht to 40 knots during sea trials - the highest speed recorded by a Zeelander 8 to date. Even at full throttle, sound levels inside remain exceptionally subdued at just 65dBA, reinforcing one of the brand's defining characteristics.
The yacht is equally capable over distance, covering approximately 630 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 32 knots. At seven knots, that figure increases to around 2,700 nautical miles. Supporting extended time on the water, Solea carries a Williams 435 jet tender alongside Seabobs and flyboards, while flexible accommodations make it possible to cruise privately or bring crew on board when needed.

BOAT TESTZeelander 8 Review (2024 Edition)
The latest delivery arrives shortly after Zeelander confirmed the sale of a fourth Zeelander 8, underlining continued demand for the Dutch builder's flagship model.
Comparing Zeelander's Four Current Models
According to YachtBuyer Market Watch, the world's largest yacht database, the Zeelander 8 currently sits above the Zeelander 5, Zeelander 6, and Zeelander 7 as the largest model currently offered by the Dutch builder.
The 15m Zeelander 5 is positioned as a luxury dayboat and weekend cruiser, accommodating four guests with a range of 420 nautical miles. The 17m Zeelander 6 expands interior volume and guest capacity while extending range to 600 nautical miles. The 20m Zeelander 7 introduces superyacht-style proportions, additional accommodations, and a 630-nautical-mile cruising range.
The Zeelander 8 takes those qualities further, delivering significantly more interior space, greater customization opportunities, dedicated tender and toy storage, optional crew accommodations, and the capability for extended cruising. For owners considering a move from the Zeelander 7, the flagship provides many of the advantages associated with larger superyachts while retaining the straightforward owner-operation that defines the brand.
