Exterior Design
The 35.29m (115.9ft) Azimut Grande 36M ABIE carries the sharp, elongated profile that defines Alberto Mancini’s design approach for the series. Long horizontal glazing, sculpted hull sections and a low superstructure reduce the visual weight of the yacht while still accommodating 279GT of interior volume. The result is a yacht that looks fast and streamlined underway, closer in stance to a sport yacht than a traditional tri-deck cruiser.
A key part of the Azimut Grande 36M design is the Infinity SkyDeck arrangement. Unlike a conventional enclosed upper deck, the semi-walkaround layout keeps circulation open around the superstructure and creates stronger links between the exterior decks and interior lounge spaces. Large retractable windows in the upper saloon remove much of the physical separation between inside and outside, so the deck spaces feel connected rather than segmented.
The profile also benefits from Azimut’s use of carbon fibre within the superstructure. Besides reducing weight, the material allows for larger uninterrupted glass sections and slimmer supports around the skylounge and upper deck. Full-height glazing stretches across both main and upper decks, pulling natural light deep into the yacht while strengthening the clean, barrierless look of the exterior.
Outdoor living forms a major part of ABIE’s layout. The main aft deck is arranged for open-air dining and socialising with direct access to the beach club below. At water level, the fold-open beach club creates an additional lounge area close to the sea, supported by a hydraulic swim platform for swimming, tender use and toy deployment.
Further forward, the upper deck bow area becomes one of the yacht’s standout social spaces. A compact glass-fronted pool sits between sunpads, sofas and casual seating areas with elevated forward views during cruising or at anchor. Above, the sundeck adds another layer of entertaining space with shaded seating, loungers, a bar and open deck areas suited to day cruising in warmer climates.
Interior Design
The interior of ABIE was designed by Salvagni Architetti, who approached the Grande 36M platform with softer shapes, restrained contrasts and a lighter contemporary palette. Satin oak sits against gloss dark wood detailing, white lacquer finishes, cream leather and white marble, creating a clean modern atmosphere without becoming stark or overly minimal.
Curved forms appear throughout the guest areas and help soften the yacht’s substantial internal volume. This is especially noticeable in the owner’s suite, where flowing cabinetry and rounded transitions work alongside panoramic side glazing to create a calmer, less angular environment. Natural light plays a major role across the yacht thanks to the extensive glazing incorporated into Mancini’s exterior design.
The main saloon is arranged as a broad social space with large sofas and uninterrupted views out to sea through oversized side windows. Sliding doors connect directly to the aft deck dining area so the two zones operate almost as one during entertaining. Further up, the upper saloon offers a quieter second lounge with retractable glazing that can fully open the room to the surrounding deck spaces.
ABIE was delivered with a particularly high specification for the Grande 36M platform. Integrated entertainment systems run throughout the yacht with Crestron-controlled audio, Apple TV integration and multiple exterior speaker zones across the sundeck, aft decks and bow lounge areas. Starlink connectivity also supports longer stays aboard or remote cruising while maintaining reliable communications.
Accommodation
ABIE accommodates up to 11 guests across five ensuite cabins with a layout designed around owner privacy and practical guest circulation. The full-beam owner’s suite occupies the forward section of the main deck and benefits from panoramic windows on both sides that bring substantial natural light into the cabin. The suite includes a private ensuite bathroom and generous storage integrated into the curved architectural layout.
Guest accommodation sits on the lower deck and includes three VIP cabins alongside a flexible twin cabin with an additional Pullman berth. The twin cabin can convert into a double configuration when required, giving the layout added flexibility for families or mixed charter groups.
The guest spaces continue the same modern styling used throughout the yacht, combining pale finishes, soft textures and clean detailing with large hull windows that reduce the enclosed feeling often associated with lower deck cabins.
Crew accommodation is arranged separately for up to six crew across four cabins, including dedicated cabins for the captain and chief engineer.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 2,200hp engines, motor yacht Abie is capable of reaching a top speed of 24 knots, and comfortably cruises at 18 knots. With her 19,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 600 nautical miles at 18 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
