Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.05m beam and a 2.08m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 162 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the twelfth yacht built on the Princess 30M design. She was completed at Princess' South Yard yard in United Kingdom where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.
Exterior Design
Afon is part of the Princess 30M series, with exterior styling by Bernard Olesinski that pushes the yacht closer to full superyacht proportions than many raised pilothouse models in this size range. Delivered in 2020 to her first and only owner, the 30.45m (99.9ft) yacht combines a high-volume three-deck layout with long flowing lines and extensive glazing that keep the profile looking sleek rather than bulky.
The bow carries a strong upright shape with a pronounced forward stance, while a sweeping structural arch rises from the foredeck and runs aft into the flybridge hardtop. A second flowing line drops from the raised pilothouse toward the stern, helping soften the yacht’s height and visually stretch the profile.
Large dark-tinted hull windows dominate the lower sections, and cutaway bulwarks around the salon and master suite open views directly out to the water. The raised pilothouse arrangement also gives the yacht its distinctive stepped profile, separating the owner’s suite forward from the guest and entertaining areas aft.
Outdoor spaces are spread across several levels. The flybridge functions as the main social deck with a spa bath, wet bar, dining area, sun loungers, and a GRP hardtop with an electrically opening centre section. A retractable awning extends shade further aft when required.
The aft cockpit steps down to a hydraulic swim platform that works as a beach club area at anchor, while the foredeck incorporates additional lounging space with integrated speakers and open views forward.
Interior Design
The interior by Princess Design Studio uses a lighter contemporary palette balanced against high-gloss Rovere Oak joinery and darker walnut flooring accents. Large panoramic windows bring substantial natural light into the salon, which helps soften the richer wood finishes and gives the main deck a noticeably open feel.
The salon layout aboard Afon uses opposing three-seat sofas with additional armchairs arranged around a circular coffee table, creating a more conversational setup than many formal yacht interiors. Full-height glazing and sliding side doors on the starboard side strengthen the connection between the interior and side deck.
Forward, the dining area seats up to 10 guests and incorporates illuminated onyx trim that becomes a focal point after dark without overwhelming the room. An electrically operated sliding partition separates the dining area from the lobby, allowing the main deck to shift between open-plan and more formal arrangements.
The galley is heavily specified with Miele appliances, black quartz worktops, built-in refrigeration, wine storage, and separate crew service areas designed to support longer stays aboard.
Accommodation
Afon accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with additional accommodation for five crew members.
The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and takes advantage of the yacht’s broad beam and raised pilothouse layout. The arrangement gives the suite greater separation from the guest accommodation below while also allowing large hull-side windows to bring natural light deep into the space.
Four guest cabins are positioned on the lower deck, including two aft VIP doubles and two convertible twin cabins. One forward guest cabin incorporates powered sliding beds that convert from twins into a double arrangement, giving the layout more flexibility for mixed guest groups.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M96) 1,948hp engines, motor yacht Afon is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 16 knots. With her 12,200 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,200 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
