More Details

Akiko is an award winning 34.12m expedition yacht for sale delivered by New Zealander shipyard Alloy Yachts in 2007. Gregory Marshall is responsible for the complete look and feel of the superyacht, having created the interior design, exterior styling and naval architecture.

Key Features

  • 34.2m Alloy explorer yacht
  • Aft fishing cockpit
  • 3,500nm expedition range
  • Zero speed stabilisers

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 7.72m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 281 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Akiko is a 34.2m (112.2ft) Alloy Yachts explorer yacht with a full-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure, designed by Gregory C. Marshall. Her grey hull, angular superstructure and red boot stripe give her a lean, expedition-ready look, while the 7.72m (25.4ft) beam and 281GT volume create far more space than many yachts in this length range.

The main deck aft was redesigned during the 2023 refit, with the separate aft deck raised to the same level for better guest use. This area now works as a covered outdoor lounge and dining space, with a barbecue and direct connection to the oversized swim platform. Below, the aft fishing cockpit adds a more serious adventure edge, with fridge/freezer capacity and live bait tanks.

The bridge deck carries tender storage and a large working deck, supported by a 2-tonne crane, while the foredeck adds a more sheltered lounge with seating. Higher up, the sun deck has an L-shaped sofa, armchairs and open views, giving guests a relaxed space away from the working areas.

Interior Design

Akiko’s interior blends Gregory Marshall’s original design work with updates from her 2023 refit, which refreshed the layout, finishes and guest spaces. The style is warm and layered rather than plain, with timber, textured fabrics, ochre tones and a strong art collection drawn from Melanesia, Australian Aboriginal works and South Pacific travel.

Large windows are central to the interior. The main saloon uses full-height glazing to bring the landscape into the room, while the bridge deck master and main deck VIP also benefit from wide outward views. The yacht feels closely tied to where she cruises, which suits an explorer yacht with this kind of range.

The main deck layout includes a formal dining area, saloon and galley, while the upper level includes a skylounge, study, gym and cinema space. Entertainment systems are fully modern, with Apple TV, Chromecast, Crestron, Foxtel, Starlink internet and large displays throughout the yacht.

Accommodation

Akiko accommodates up to 12 guests across five cabins. The full-beam master suite sits on the bridge deck, facing forward, with large windows, a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite with his-and-hers sinks and a large shower.

The main deck VIP cabin is also full beam, with a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, bath, separate shower and his-and-hers sinks. Below deck, the guest layout includes one double cabin with a queen-size bed and two twin cabins, each with an additional Pullman berth. All guest cabins have ensuite bathrooms.

Crew accommodation supports up to six crew in three cabins, allowing Akiko to operate properly on longer remote cruising programmes.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3406E) 475hp engines running at 1800rpm, motor yacht Akiko is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 34,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,500 nautical miles at an economic speed of 8 knots.
