Project ZEN is a 47.83m motor yacht due to be delivered by Dutch shipyard Van der Valk in 2028. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Guido de Groot Design, while Van Oossanen Naval Architects is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.5m beam and a 2.15m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

At 48 metres (157.5ft), Project Zen will become the flagship of the Van der Valk range. Her all-aluminium hull and superstructure are defined by long, uninterrupted lines and a low, dynamic stance. The exterior design by Guido de Groot carries a distinct automotive influence, visible in the tapering bow, flush glazing, and the sculpted break between hull and superstructure. It’s a design that balances athletic poise with an understated calm, giving her presence even at rest.

The yacht’s fast displacement hull form, developed by Van Oossanen, works in tandem with an aft-mounted Hull Vane foil to minimise drag and increase range. 

Aft, the main deck opens into a wide sea terrace with folding bulwarks that drop away on three sides, creating a near water-level platform for swimming or launching water toys. Retractable, self-levelling swim stairs descend into the sea, and electric sliding doors lead directly into a generous toy store stocked with eFoil boards, Seabobs, and wakeboards.

Forward, the bow lounge is designed as a calm outdoor retreat, complete with spa pool, sunpads, and wraparound seating. The garage beneath houses the MOB tender, while a second, lower garage accommodates a 6.25m Williams DieselJet and a jetski. Above, the split-level sundeck extends the yacht’s relaxed lifestyle focus with open sunbathing space aft and a shaded forward zone under the hardtop featuring a wet bar, grill, and alfresco dining area.

Accommodation

Project ZEN offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites. The main deck is home to a full-beam owner’s suite positioned forward, offering privacy and commanding sea views. Adjoining it is a unique wellness area that spans the yacht’s width, divided between a gym to port and a yoga studio to starboard. Both open through large sliding glass doors, providing natural light, ventilation, and a direct link to the ocean environment. 

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Project ZEN is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 16 knots. She has a maximum range of 4,400 nautical miles.
