The new build marks the third collaboration between the yard and a returning owner, continuing a lineage that stretches back to earlier Jangada yachts delivered in 2015 and 2019.
Exterior and interior design comes from Nick Top and Guido de Groot Design, with naval architecture developed by Ginton Naval Architects in partnership with Diana Yacht Design.
Building on a Proven Owner Partnership
Jangada was commissioned by an experienced owner returning to Van der Valk for a third project, with each iteration shaped by evolving requirements rather than a full redesign. This latest build reflects a shift toward increased onboard volume and enhanced long-stay comfort, driven in part by changes to the owner’s home berth in the Bay of St Tropez.
The most visible adjustment is the addition of an extra deck, which required careful reworking of the yacht’s raised pilothouse profile. The result is a more substantial silhouette without losing proportion, supported by refined glazing lines and a controlled superstructure form.
Construction also reflects a focus on onboard comfort. A displacement steel hull paired with an aluminum superstructure was selected to improve acoustic performance, supported by extensive insulation and upgraded noise and vibration control throughout the yacht.
Final Phase Complete as Jangada Reaches UK
Jangada completed sea trials in the North Sea earlier this year, where the yard reported that performance met expectations across handling, systems, and onboard comfort. These trials followed her launch in November and marked the final stage before delivery.
She has since completed her delivery voyage and is now moored in Plymouth, according to her AIS data. Her arrival places her within easy reach of the Western Mediterranean for the upcoming cruising season, aligning with her intended use as a long-range family yacht.
A Family-Led Approach to Layout and Space
The interior of the superyacht has been planned with extended stays in mind, moving away from short-term charter configurations toward a more settled onboard lifestyle. Whitewashed wood finishes and restrained detailing set a calm tone, supported by large windows that bring in natural light across the main living areas.
Ceiling heights of up to 2.6 meters in the main salon add to the sense of space, while the layout introduces quieter, secondary areas designed for individual use. A dedicated gym sits alongside more relaxed zones such as the wheelhouse lounge, where retractable navigation screens keep the space uncluttered when not in use.
Accommodation on board the motor yacht is arranged across five cabins for up to ten guests. The full-beam owner’s suite is positioned forward on the main deck, creating separation from guest areas while maintaining direct access to the yacht’s primary social spaces. On the lower deck, two VIP cabins and two twin cabins have been tailored for the owner’s children and grandchildren, with practical storage and layouts suited to longer stays onboard.
Functional Deck Design with Defined Zones
On deck, Jangada prioritizes usability over visual impact. The flybridge is centered around a 4.5-meter jet-stream pool with a depth of 1.5 meters, supported by a dedicated warm-water system installed beneath the tender garage. Integrating this feature required careful structural reinforcement and stability planning during the design phase.
Jangada is powered by twin MAN D2862LE 426 diesel engines, each producing 900 horsepower, driving twin screw propellers. She is expected to reach a top speed of 14.15 knots, with a cruising speed of around 13 knots.
A Proven Alternative Still on the Market
For buyers drawn to the Jangada series, the owner’s previous 32m Jangada remains available on the brokerage market, presenting a different take on the same design lineage.
Delivered in 2019, this earlier Jangada offers a more performance-oriented profile, built on a semi-displacement platform with a higher top speed and a slightly shallower draft suited to varied cruising grounds. While the new 36-meter prioritizes volume and long-term comfort, the 32-meter model appeals to owners seeking a faster, more agile cruising experience without stepping away from the raised pilothouse layout and family-focused design approach.
The 32m Jangada yacht is on the market with Y.CO and is currently asking €7,500,000.
The third Jangada’s delivery comes as Van der Valk continues work on several projects across its custom and semi-custom range. According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, the yard currently has five yachts either in build or on order, including its largest project to date - the 48m Project Zen.
