The launch ceremony was attended by the owner and his family, representatives from the project team and Tankoa employees. A traditional blessing and christening were followed by a celebration at the shipyard.
Launched in Genoa on 31 August 2026, the 499 GT yacht has exterior and interior design by Cassetta Yacht Designers, naval architecture by NAMES and engineering by inNave, working with Tankoa's technical department. Sea trials and technical testing are now underway ahead of delivery.
How Tankoa Reworked the T450 Around Its Owner
Although development began with the existing Tankoa T450, the Italian builder says the TX450 ultimately became an entirely new yacht. According to the yard, the finished project is 100% custom and shares only its designer with the original T450 concept.
The owner's experience played an important role in that development. Having previously owned several yachts, he approached the project with a detailed brief centered on volume, living space and the distribution of accommodation. Keeping the yacht below the 500 gross ton threshold was a fundamental requirement. The production T450 measures 45m, has an 8.8m beam and sits at 455 GT, while Tankoa lists the TX450 at 499 GT.
To make greater use of that available volume, the TX450 receives a wider beam and an additional deck. Rather than preserving the standard T450 arrangement, Cassetta Yacht Designers developed the layout around how the owner expects to spend time aboard. The result places much of the yacht's principal living space higher in the vessel, while accommodation has been distributed differently from a more conventional 45m arrangement.
Main-Deck Accommodation Frees Up the Upper Levels
The TX450 accommodates up to 10 guests across five principal staterooms, with the owner's suite and all four guest cabins positioned on the main deck. Placing the main guest accommodation on one level leaves the upper deck available almost entirely for living areas. It also gives the guest cabins a position higher above the water than the lower-deck arrangement commonly found aboard motor yachts of this size.
Extra accommodation is available on the lower deck, including a convertible cabin that can be brought into use when required. The upper levels are focused more heavily on shared spaces. Living areas extend across the upper deck, while dedicated gym and spa facilities provide a separate wellness area.
An enclosed veranda sits on the bridge deck. The sheltered space gives the owner and guests another area for use away from the principal interior lounges and open decks, extending the amount of usable space across the yacht's four principal guest levels.
Three Levels of Waterside Space at the Stern
A substantial stern arrangement forms another important part of the owner's brief. At water level, the TX450 has a swimming pool bordered by opening platforms on either side. With both platforms lowered, the available area extends outward over the water and creates a broader guest space around the pool.

The beach club can expand across three levels once the tender and Jet Skis have been deployed. The layout allows spaces required for storing watercraft while underway to take on a second role when the yacht is stationary. The arrangement forms part of the wider effort to give the 45m yacht the usable deck area expected aboard a larger vessel without taking gross tonnage beyond the owner's sub-500 GT target.
Cassetta Yacht Designers handled the interior as well as the exterior, allowing the layout and exterior architecture to be developed around the same owner-led brief from the beginning of the project.
Inside the TX450's Full-Hybrid Propulsion System
TX450 is fitted with a full-hybrid propulsion system using conventional engines, electric motors and batteries. Tankoa reports a maximum speed of 15 knots at half load and a cruising speed of 14 knots. The system has also been configured to provide greater operating flexibility and propulsion redundancy.
Full-electric mode allows the TX450 to cruise for several hours without using its conventional engines. Tankoa states that the yacht can operate with zero propulsion emissions during this mode. Battery capacity also changes how the yacht can operate when stationary. The TX450 can remain at anchor overnight using battery power alone, allowing the generators to be switched off and reducing noise around the yacht during the night.
Hybrid propulsion has featured elsewhere in Tankoa's fleet. The builder offers hybrid propulsion as an option on the standard T450, which uses a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Tankoa CEO Vincenzo Poerio said the launch marked the result of close collaboration with the owner throughout the project, describing TX450 as an entirely bespoke yacht developed around a shared vision.
Larger Full-Custom Projects Follow the TX450
The TX450 joins a busy construction program at Tankoa, with full-custom and semi-custom yachts scheduled for delivery through the end of the decade. According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Tankoa currently has 12 yachts either in build or on order.
Among the larger projects is the 61m Project Dream, a full-custom yacht sold to an American owner. Tankoa marked its coin ceremony at its Civitavecchia facility in June 2026, and the yacht is scheduled for delivery in 2029. The yard's current construction schedule lists the 61m project at 1,280 GT.
Tankoa is also building the 72m T720 Fenice, sold to an American client in March 2026. Developed from the earlier T680 Fenice platform, the full-custom yacht has exterior design by Enrico Gobbi's Team for Design and interiors by Giorgio Cassetta. Tankoa's current build schedule places delivery in 2030 and lists an internal volume of 1,637 GT.

Other yachts currently listed in construction include 45m T450s, 50m T500 projects, the 55m T55 Sportiva and the 56m T560 Apache, with deliveries extending from 2026 through 2029.
