Latest Horizon FD100 Yacht Enters Monsoon Trials Ahead of Monaco Debut

Horizon Yachts has confirmed that the Horizon FD100 Tri-Deck Hull 12 has entered its final testing phase.

The 31m motor yacht is the first Horizon FD100 Tri-Deck built specifically for the European market and is scheduled to make its official debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show in September.

Built by Horizon’s Taiwanese shipyard, the FD100 Hull 12 represents a milestone for the shipyard’s fast-growing FD Series in Europe. The exterior comes from Cor D. Rover Design, while Horizon handled the naval architecture in-house. Constructed in GRP over a fast displacement hull, the yacht spans three decks and offers a gross tonnage of 216 GT.

Final Testing Phase Underway

The FD100 Hull 12 is currently undergoing monsoon testing at Horizon’s dedicated facility. This quality control process simulates tropical storm conditions - including heavy rain and strong winds - and forms part of Horizon’s broader commitment to durability and engineering standards.

Once the monsoon testing is complete, the motor yacht for sale will begin sea trials. These trials will assess performance, handling, and onboard systems, ensuring everything meets Horizon’s standards ahead of delivery and show appearance.

Flexible Layout with Convertible Cabins

The Horizon FD100 Tri-Deck offers accommodation for up to 10 guests across five staterooms. These include a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, one VIP, a twin cabin, and two convertible double/twin cabins on the lower deck. The yacht for sale also accommodates up to six crew, with a dedicated crew area aft and access to the beach club.

Interior materials and layout are customizable, with this hull expected to follow the series’ standard of high-volume spaces and modern detailing. Features such as built-in device charging points and flexible salon dining arrangements have become hallmarks of the FD100 line.

The tri-deck layout enhances the FD100’s already generous outdoor spaces. The upper deck houses a skylounge with a bar, dayhead, and aft jacuzzi, while the top-level flybridge provides additional al fresco lounging and navigation. A foredeck seating area and expansive main aft deck complete the exterior arrangement, tailored for cruising and entertaining.

The FD100 also includes a fully-equipped beach club aft, ideal for waterside relaxation and launching tenders or toys.

Built on a Fast Displacement GRP Hull

Powered by twin MAN diesel engines producing a total of 4,000 horsepower (2 x 2,000hp), the FD100 Hull 12 reaches a top speed of just over 20 knots and cruises at 10 knots. With a fuel capacity of 15,142 liters, the yacht offers a maximum range of around 2,000 nautical miles.

She features a 7.25-meter beam and a shallow draft of 1.78 meters, making her suitable for both open water cruising and access to shallower anchorages. Propulsion is via twin screw propellers.

Horizon Strengthens Presence in European Waters

This hull marks a notable step for Horizon Yachts as it expands its footprint in the European market. The Horizon FD Series has grown steadily in recent years, and the arrival of a dedicated European tri-deck build signals increased demand for the yard’s high-volume, semi-custom platforms.

FD Series Models Lead Horizon’s Order Book

According to YachtBuyer Market Watch and Intelligence, the industry's largest yacht database, Horizon currently has 16 yachts in build across its FD Series range. This includes ongoing production of the FD110 Tri-Deck, FD90 Skylounge, and FD80 models.

The YachtBuyer Reviewed Horizon FD110 Tri-Deck serves as the entry point to Horizon’s larger superyacht category, measuring 33.99 meters and offering five guest cabins, including a main deck owner’s suite. With a 2,000-nautical mile range and expansive beach club, the FD110 is geared toward long-distance cruising and extended onboard living.

The Horizon FD90 Skylounge, a 27.45-meter yacht with five cabins, adopts a more enclosed upper deck layout for year-round use. With a fast displacement hull and range of 1,640 nautical miles, it is designed for weekending and mid-range passage-making while retaining the volume and layout flexibility typical of the FD Series.

Completing the lineup is the Horizon FD80, a 24.56-meter crossover yacht with four staterooms and a strong focus on natural light and space efficiency. The yacht’s large windows, on-deck master suite, and integrated beach club give it the feel of a much larger vessel, while remaining easy to handle and suitable for private ownership.
