The new Beneteau Gran Turismo 50 sportscruiser measures 15.95 metres and forms part of a wider relaunch of Beneteau’s Gran Turismo lineup alongside the GT35 and GT40. Developed with naval architecture by Dixon Yacht Design, the model features a redesigned three-cabin layout and a lower-profile exterior intended to strengthen Beneteau's position within the premium sportscruiser market.
A sharper Gran Turismo identity leads Beneteau’s new generation
The new Gran Turismo 50 marks a complete rethink of the previous generation model, which left the range in 2021. At the upcoming Venice Boat Show 2026, Beneteau will showcase the models' entirely new hull, revised superstructure and updated layout intended to reposition the GT line within the modern sportscruiser segment. The exterior styling adopts cleaner surfaces and a more sculpted profile, with long hull windows, a reverse bow and reduced visual clutter helping create a more contemporary appearance. The lower roofline and simplified glazing treatment give the yacht a sleeker silhouette while still preserving practical headroom throughout the main deck areas, a design direction that has already gained recognition with a nomination in the Motor Yacht 14–16m category at the Yacht Style Awards 2026. Optional Alpine trim packages further emphasise the yacht’s sporting character through dark detailing, carbon-finish helm elements and black exterior accents.
Fold-down terraces transform the cockpit into a floating beach club
One of the biggest changes aboard the yacht is the complete redesign of the aft deck arrangement. The previous models fixed transom has been removed in favour of a far more open cockpit layout centred around fold-down bulwark terraces and direct access to the water. Beneteau claims the redesign increases usable exterior deck space by around 30 percent compared with the previous generation. A hydraulic swim platform capable of carrying a tender or jet ski expands the beach club setup further, while the cockpit itself has been configured as a flexible social space with convertible sunpads, an adjustable teak dining table and integrated storage throughout. Forward, the yacht introduces a recessed bow lounge with wraparound seating, integrated speakers and ambient lighting, creating a second outdoor entertainment zone more commonly associated with larger Mediterranean sports yachts.
Three-cabin layout prioritises social cruising and contemporary finishes
Inside, the boat adopts a significantly lighter and more minimalist design language than its predecessor. Matte finishes, integrated lighting and soft contemporary materials replace the darker high-gloss interiors seen on the first generation Beneteau Gran Turismo 50 model. The galley sits aft on the main deck to improve connection with the cockpit, effectively functioning as both an indoor preparation space and outdoor serving area when the aft glazing is opened. Accommodation is available in either two or three-cabin configurations, with the standard layout offering space for up to six guests. The forward owner’s cabin benefits from generous storage and an ensuite bathroom, while the guest cabin aft can convert between twin and double arrangements depending on owner preference. Throughout the lower deck, Beneteau has focused on maximising natural light and improving practical storage solutions for extended weekend cruising.
IPS propulsion and a new Bill Dixon hull target faster, smoother cruising
Beneath the waterline, the Gran Turismo 50 introduces a completely new hull developed by Bill Dixon specifically around Volvo Penta IPS propulsion rather than Beneteau’s previous Air Step system. Standard power comes from twin Volvo Penta IPS650 engines producing 480hp each, giving the yacht reported top speeds in excess of 30 knots depending on specification and load conditions. The revised hull form has been optimised for efficiency, stability and easier handling, with joystick manoeuvring and assisted docking systems available as optional upgrades. Buyers can also specify additional comfort-focused systems including Seakeeper stabilisation, lithium battery packages and solar-assisted silent operation modes intended to improve onboard comfort while at anchor.
YachtBuyer review explores the new Gran Turismo 50
YachtBuyer recently took a closer look at the second-generation Beneteau Gran Turismo 50, exploring the redesigned sportscruiser’s new Bill Dixon hull, expanded beach club layout, IPS performance and updated three-cabin configuration. The review also highlights the Alpine specification package, helm design and the model’s stronger focus on outdoor living and contemporary styling.
Beneteau continues expansion of its premium sportscruiser portfolio
The Gran Turismo 50 forms part of Beneteau’s renewed GT range, joining the recently introduced Gran Turismo 35 and Gran Turismo 40 as the French builder continues to modernise its express cruising lineup. According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Beneteau is a major player in the global sportscruiser market. The new generation GT models place greater emphasis on outdoor entertaining, contemporary styling and open-plan social spaces, positioning the range more directly against premium Mediterranean sportscruisers in the 40 to 55-foot sector.
