On Deck

The Galeon 800 Fly’s deck spaces are a balance between showmanship and thoughtful practicality. Starting aft, the yacht has what may be the largest hydraulic swim platform ever fitted to an 80-footer. Integrated staircases and a flush transition to the hull create a continual edge that conceals its function until you're up close. There’s a transom shower, shore water inlet, and fender and gear storage generous enough to accommodate paddleboards or SUPs.

The cockpit is well protected by the long overhang of the flybridge above. There’s wide seating for guests, hidden storage in three separate compartments, and access to twin 100m (328ft) cable reels for power. A tucked-in safety door blends into the fiberglass moulding, minimizing obstruction when open. A stern docking station is cleverly designed to be adjustable in height to suit different captains. Both port and starboard side-boarding doors are present, and the attention to detail extends to recessed cleats and flush-mounted windlasses.

Moving forward, the side decks are wide, solid underfoot, and lined with robust railings. At the bow, Galeon has gone well beyond the usual bench-and-table setup. The forward area features a transformable sun lounge with backrests that stow flat or flip upright. Cupholders, integrated storage, and a convertible table insert complete the picture. The table legs stow neatly beneath, turning the sunpad into a full dining area when needed. It’s an adaptable space that lets you convert the forward layout into something more reminiscent of a larger yacht.

Underfoot is a hatch leading to a large bow locker with stainless steel chain and an ultra anchor, backed up by a powerful windlass. The space also features overhead skylights that pour light into the interior below, and a hydraulic pop-up shade extends to cover the area when needed.

Up top, the flybridge is humongous, with a carbon-fiber superstructure that allowed designers to maximize usable space. Seating capacity is substantial, with twin semicircular sofas, multiple dining areas, and space for 14 to 16 guests. Storage runs deep under all the bench seating. Forward is a large sunpad with cupholders, and while there’s no fixed shade, the space is adaptable for sunbathing or relaxing under a removable canopy.

The upper deck includes not one, but two bar areas. The aft galley section is equipped with a sink, electric grill, fridge, and storage compartments. Forward, near the helm, another full bar includes an ice maker, fridge, sink, and bottle storage. These two stations mean guests can spread out and still be served, while the layout brings everyone closer to the helm during passages.

Interior Accommodation

Stepping inside, the Galeon 800 Fly’s interior evokes a luxury apartment, with a single-level layout and headroom of 2.08m (6'10") in the saloon and up to 2.4m (8ft) in the galley. Expansive side windows flood the space with light, creating an atmosphere that feels almost oversized for the yacht’s length. The main salon features U-shaped seating to starboard, a sofa to port, and a large pop-up TV built into the cabinetry. A modern bar area is integrated just inside the aft doors, with storage for stemware, wine bottles, and a drink fridge.

The galley is open-plan and superbly equipped, featuring a large refrigerator, two freezer drawers, a Bosch dishwasher, single sink, four-burner induction cooktop, full oven, and hood. Storage is extensive, with deep drawers, upper cabinets, and even an open-shelving rail system for a more domestic feel. A dining table for eight is positioned forward of the galley, adjacent to the lower helm station, tying the whole main deck together as a flowing, multifunctional space.

A standout feature is the full-length lighting detail that runs from the galley bulkhead through to the salon and aft deck, creating subtle continuity. There’s also a dayhead conveniently located near the saloon for guests.

At the lower helm, visibility is excellent. Three flush-mounted Raymarine screens, MTU engine controls, side-power hydraulic thrusters, and joystick docking all sit within easy reach. The helm chairs are stylish and functional, and the massive sunroof overhead gives the space a bright, open feel. Dual side doors add to the airflow and access.

Owner's Cabin

Positioned amidships for maximum stability, the full-beam master stateroom is the showpiece of the accommodation deck. Framed by massive windows, it includes a centerline king-size bed, cozy settee beneath the port window, and a vanity/jewellery area to starboard. A night fridge and safe are integrated into the cabinetry. The walk-in closet is spacious, with hanging rails, drawers, and open shelving.

The ensuite bathroom is equally impressive, with a bench in the large glass-enclosed shower, a rainfall showerhead, and a big window alongside. There’s a sliding vanity mirror with storage behind and a generous sink area.

Guest Accommodation

The lower deck hosts three guest cabins, each with ensuite facilities and oversized windows. The VIP cabin is located forward and features a unique angled king-size bed that makes the most of the bow shape. There’s ample drawer space, a home office-style vanity, and an ensuite with a full-size shower, generous sink, and enormous hull window.

Aft of the VIP are two twin cabins, one to port and one to starboard. Both include two single beds that can be joined to form doubles. Each space features a built-in TV, a large wardrobe, and a private bathroom. The styling matches the rest of the yacht, with light woods, indirect lighting, and large hull windows that make even the lower deck feel bright and open. Both ensuites include rainfall showers and clever mirror placement to preserve views out the window.

Crew Accommodation

Accessed discreetly through the aft deck, the crew area has been arranged for up to three crew. The layout includes a compact mess with a pop-up desk, foldable chairs, a two-burner cooktop, microwave, sink, fridge, and washer-dryer. Light finishes keep the space bright, and even here, there’s a small view window.

There’s a double crew cabin that converts into a large storage area if needed, which is good for owners who cruise without full-time crew. A third bunk-style cabin includes a hanging rod and can function as extra storage or be used as a beach club-style prep room. The crew share a dedicated bathroom with a separate shower compartment, not a wet head.

Performance

The engine room is accessed from the crew quarters and is more spacious than expected. At the heart of it are two MTU V12 engines producing 1,925 horsepower each, giving the Galeon 80 Fly a top speed of over 32 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots. Despite its size and comfort, this yacht moves fast.

Systems include dual generators (one port, one starboard), a water heater on each end of the vessel, a Spectra watermaker, and Fireboy fire suppression. The PTOs are linked to the hydraulic pack, which powers the bow and stern thrusters, stabilizer fins, and anchor windlass. Fuel filters, sea strainers, and engine control panels are all easily accessible, and the yacht includes a manual switch-over for generator or shore power should the main panel fail.

Ventilation is substantial, with large ducting and exhausts running aft, and an escape hatch leads from the engine room to the cockpit for emergency egress.

In Summary

The Galeon 800 Fly is a bold, capable yacht that brings megayacht features into a sub-24m platform. From its carbon-enhanced flybridge to the reconfigurable bow and remarkable interior volume, it’s full of surprises. Owner-operators will appreciate the joystick docking, adaptable layout, and clever crew accommodations, while charter clients will gravitate toward the light-filled interiors, expansive sunpads, and bar-forward flybridge setup. This is a yacht designed to feel almost twice as big on the inside as it looks from the dock.
