The 26.29m motor yacht Kala was delivered to her owners in 2015 by British shipyard Sunseeker. Her naval architecture, interior and exterior has been penned by the Sunseeker design team.

Key Features

  • 26.3m (86ft) Sunseeker 86 Yacht
  • Starboard fold-down balcony
  • Carbon fibre flybridge hardtop
  • Hydraulic platform and tender garage

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.48m beam and a 1.96m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 128 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Kala is a Sunseeker 86 Yacht, measuring 26.3m (86ft), with a GRP hull and a broad beam that gives the yacht a planted stance on the water. The profile is low and stretched, shaped by long, dark glazing that runs almost unbroken along the hull and superstructure. The contrast between the white topsides and the deep-tinted glass defines the look, while the forward sections carry sharper angles that give the bow a more assertive edge.

The superstructure is capped by a carbon fibre hardtop with a large opening section, which keeps the flybridge profile low while still allowing ventilation and shade control. The glazing wraps around the aft end of the main deck, softening the transition between interior and exterior and giving the yacht a more continuous feel from bow to stern.

The aft cockpit is set up as a primary social area with a U-shaped sofa and a teak dining table, positioned under the shelter of the flybridge overhang. From here, twin staircases lead down to the hydraulic bathing platform, which can launch a tender up to 4.45m (14.6ft) or sit level with the water for swimming. A garage is built into the transom, so toys and tender storage stay hidden when not in use.

A notable feature on this model is the starboard-side fold-down balcony in the main saloon. When deployed, it opens a section of the bulwark to create a direct connection to the water, adding usable deck space without altering the overall footprint.

Forward, the foredeck is arranged as a second social zone, with a fixed seating group around a table and a large sunpad set further forward. The area is enclosed by high stainless steel rails, so it remains usable underway.

Up top, the flybridge extends well aft and carries a full entertainment setup. This includes a bar, electric grill, dining space and multiple lounging areas, with room for loose furniture or optional features such as a spa tub. The layout keeps clear walkways around the edges, so the space works as both a dining and day lounge area.

Exterior lighting is handled with integrated LED systems across the decks and steps, while underwater lights at the stern and along the hull sides add low-level illumination when at anchor.

Interior Design

The interior uses high-gloss black American walnut with cream and silver-grey finishes, which gives a darker, more polished look than many yachts in this size range. The main saloon is arranged with a large sofa and open seating, connected to the cockpit through sliding doors, while the dining area sits forward.

A key layout feature is the split access to the lower deck. A private stairway forward of the helm leads directly to the VIP cabin, while a separate midships stairwell connects to the master and guest cabins. This separation improves privacy between guest spaces.

The helm position sits forward on the main deck with strong visibility through large, upright windows, and a Simrad glass bridge system with multiple displays. A side balcony door to starboard links the saloon directly to the fold-down terrace when deployed.

Accommodation

Kala accommodates up to 8 guests in four cabins. The layout includes a full-beam master cabin, a VIP cabin with private access, and two twin cabins, both of which can convert to doubles and include optional Pullman berths.

All cabins are en suite and finished in the same walnut and neutral palette used throughout the main deck. The master includes larger storage areas and a more central layout, while the VIP benefits from its own stair access, which gives it a more private feel.

Crew accommodation is arranged for up to 4 crew, with separate access and dedicated service areas to keep operations clear of guest spaces.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (10V 2000 M94) 10-cylinder 1,622hp engines, motor yacht Kala is capable of reaching a top speed of 30 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 11,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
