- Private deck conning station forward
- 3,900nm range at 10 knots
- Gyro-stabilised active fin control
- Certified helideck for 2.8t aircraft
Design & Construction
Designed around a swath steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 58'5" beam and a 13'5" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 926 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Exterior Design
Nurja carries a sturdy, purposeful profile, with design lines shaped by function rather than flourish. Built with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, her construction prioritises strength and seaworthiness over cosmetic polish - a conscious choice by her original owner, who preferred a practical aesthetic for long-range adventure. Decks are only partially teak-laid and there is minimal varnished woodwork outdoors, in keeping with her expedition character.
One of the standout features is her certified helideck, positioned on the upper deck and capable of accommodating helicopters up to 2.8 tonnes (6,173 pounds). Even when the helicopter is in place, there remains ample room for tenders and sun loungers. Beneath the aft section of the main deck, a tender garage houses a 7 metre Novurania custom line tender with a Volvo 190hp diesel engine, alongside a 4.5 metre rescue boat.
Space is a defining luxury on board. Thanks to her SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) design, Nurja boasts the volume and deck area typical of a 50 metre motor yacht. This twin hull configuration also provides a reassuring level of safety - even if one hull were compromised, the yacht could heel slightly and proceed under power from the remaining engine.
Although her appearance might seem unconventional compared to sleeker superyachts, Nurja shares more in common with serious expedition vessels. Her deep draft of 4.1 metres (13.5ft) - reduced to 3.5 metres (11.5ft) in harbour by pumping out ballast - makes her better suited to anchoring offshore than squeezing into shallow marinas. However, at anchor, she remains incredibly stable, even in rougher conditions.
Interior Design
Inside, Nurja’s design is bright, practical, and spacious, with interiors shaped around comfort during long voyages rather than opulence. The layout is refreshingly open - the main saloon is a vast space wider than it is long, featuring two relaxed seating areas and two generous dining tables. Walls are lined with large-format photographs taken by the owner himself, adding a personal and informal touch.
Interior decoration follows a clean, understated style, favouring practical materials and straight lines over heavy embellishment. There is a deliberate absence of marble and gold, helping keep the atmosphere airy and unpretentious.
Moving forward on the main deck, a central galley and pantry are positioned almost exactly on the centreline, while the forwardmost section is devoted to crew accommodation - a rare choice that prioritises the working life of the vessel over squeezing in extra guest spaces.
On the upper deck, part of the space is devoted to an upper lounge or media room, overlooking the helideck. Nearby, a gymnasium offers a place to keep fit on longer crossings. The deck also features a private owner's terrace with a forward-facing conning station, complete with a full suite of navigational displays, vessel monitoring systems, and even outdoor satellite TV and Blu-ray capability.
The wheelhouse, perched one level above, mirrors the half-moon shape of the owner’s suite beneath it. It boasts exceptional visibility more often found on commercial tugs than luxury yachts. Here, there is generous space for the yacht’s extensive electronics, including advanced navigation, communications, and control systems. An elevator connects the decks, rising all the way to the top, where a spa pool and seating area offer yet another relaxing outdoor space.
Accommodation
Nurja offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising an owners cabin, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Accommodation on Nurja is designed to deliver maximum comfort for long periods at sea. Guest spaces are considerably larger than typical yacht cabins, closer in feel to hotel rooms, with superb natural light pouring through large square windows.
The master suite, situated forward on the upper deck, is remarkable both in layout and in functionality. Its half-moon shape wraps around the bow, providing near 180-degree panoramic views - a design choice carefully made to help with motion sickness, allowing uninterrupted sightlines to the horizon. Inside, the bedroom leads aft to a pair of his-and-hers bathrooms, a jacuzzi, and a separate private study.
Guest accommodation is located on the main deck and consists of two king-sized cabins, each with its own en-suite bathroom, and two twin cabins, also en-suite, each fitted with a Pullman berth for additional flexibility.
Crew accommodation is well thought out and ample in scale. Forward on the main deck are the crew quarters, with a double captain’s cabin located directly behind the wheelhouse for operational efficiency. The crew spaces include one twin engineer’s cabin and three further twin cabins, giving the vessel a comfortable working capacity for up to nine crew members.
