Rat Pack is a 29.6m expedition yacht for sale delivered by American shipyard Marlow in 2011. Marlow is responsible for the complete look and feel of the superyacht, having created the interior design, exterior styling and naval architecture.
Key Features
- Classic gentleman’s yacht styling
- Full-beam owner’s suite
- Separate private annex cabin
- 1,000kg tender crane system
Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement fiberglass hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 6.4m beam and a 1.83m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 117 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in July 2011.
Exterior Design
Rat Pack is a 29.6m (97ft) Marlow Explorer-style motor yacht with a profile that leans heavily into traditional yacht design over maximising internal volume. The lines are lower and softer than many modern raised pilothouse yachts, with a deep navy hull, long overhangs, a sweeping sheerline and extensive teak detailing around the exterior.
Wide covered side decks run the full length of the yacht and are protected by substantial overhangs and stainless grab rails. Portuguese bridge detailing across the foredeck adds another layer of offshore practicality, while windjammer doors can close off the side decks to reduce airflow through the aft deck area at anchor or underway.
The upper deck combines helm controls, outdoor entertaining and tender storage into one highly functional space. An enclosed bridge deck uses removable Isinglass panels and integrated air conditioning, so the area can operate as either a protected skylounge or an open-air helm deck. A secondary helm station sits beneath a hardtop frame with a soft canopy, supported by FLIR night vision, bow and stern thruster controls, autopilot systems and a handheld yacht controller that allows docking operations from anywhere around the deck.
Aft of the upper helm, the boat deck carries a large tender served by a 1,000kg (2,205lb) crane. Built-in cabinetry houses refrigeration, a barbecue, sink and storage, while freestanding steamer chairs and sunpads reinforce the relaxed cruising character. The foredeck itself remains clean and uncluttered, with twin anchors recessed into the bow and seating integrated ahead of the Portuguese bridge.
At water level, the aft platform functions as a practical beach club and toy storage area with direct access into the crew and machinery spaces. The yacht’s relatively low freeboard and modest overall height also help movement around the decks feel manageable for a yacht close to 30m (98.4ft).
Interior Design
Inside, Rat Pack has a traditional yacht look with high-gloss timber joinery and the atmosphere is warm and heavily nautical, with teak trims, fluted wood panelling and extensive handrails throughout the accommodation and bridge deck spaces.
The main saloon combines lounge seating, a formal dining area and a concealed television lift system. Cabinetry integrates refrigeration, wine storage and glassware lockers into the woodwork rather than treating them as separate appliances. Large windows keep the space bright, though the focus remains on craftsmanship and practicality rather than minimalist styling.
Forward of the saloon, the raised pilothouse level merges the galley, dinette and helm into one social cruising space. Handrails, fiddled counters and deep storage underline the yacht’s long-range intent. The galley itself uses Miele appliances throughout, supported by extensive refrigeration and freezer drawer capacity designed for extended time aboard.
The bridge layout has a distinctly traditional feel with polished timber helm consoles, analogue-style switchgear placement and excellent visibility through the raised windscreen arrangement. Side deck access doors on both port and starboard sides allow quick movement during docking or passagemaking.
Below deck, the finish continues with cedar-lined wardrobes, lacquered timber detailing and marble-finished en suites. Storage capacity stands out throughout the yacht, particularly in the owner’s suite where extensive cabinetry and drawer systems support long-term cruising.
Accommodation
Rat Pack accommodates up to eight guests across four cabins, alongside accommodation for up to three crew.
The owner’s suite sits amidships on the lower deck and spans the full beam. The layout includes extensive drawer storage, a dressing table and twin en suite bathrooms connected by a central shower compartment. Large wardrobes and additional cabinetry reinforce the yacht’s long-range cruising focus.
Forward in the bow, the VIP cabin uses a flexible arrangement with convertible bedding that can operate as doubles or separate singles. Additional upper berths make the cabin particularly useful for families with children. This cabin also connects to the day head.
A further guest cabin sits aft on the lower deck with its own en suite and traditional timber detailing throughout.
One unusual feature is the separate annex cabin accessed independently from the main saloon area. This self-contained suite includes its own entrance, bathroom facilities, storage and television, making it suitable for grandparents, older children, staff or guests who want more privacy from the main accommodation areas.
Crew accommodation is positioned aft with twin berths, an additional bunk, a compact mess area and direct access to the swim platform and machinery spaces.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 ACERT) 12-cylinder 1,800hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Rat Pack is capable of reaching a top speed of 25 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 18,927 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 2,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
