Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 13.8m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,739 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the Saluzi is distinguished by its raked flared bow and curved aft deck - but what really contribute to its distinctive profile is the unique paint job created by artist Li Jiwei. This artwork is an abstract horse depicting the yacht's namesake, Saluzi. Saluzi means "Autumn Dew" and was the name of the warhorse ridden by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. The artist Li Jiwei, born in Beijing in 1960, has a background in traditional Chinese painting and a Master’s degree in abstract painting. Li Jiwei’s work is widely recognized, with notable installations at the Beijing Olympic Swim Stadium and the German Embassy in Beijing. His contribution to the Saluzi reflects his focus on large-scale art installations.
The sun deck boasts a sprawling 300m² (3,230ft²) of pure leisure, crowned by a jaw-dropping 21-meter water slide that's more of a thrill ride than an amenity. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor cinema under the stars and unwind in not one, but two jacuzzis.
Interior Design
Saluzi's interior bears little resemblance to a conventional 70m (229.7ft) superyacht. When Luiz de Basto redesigned the vessel during her conversion from luxury cruise ship to yacht, he embraced the unusually large internal volumes rather than trying to disguise them. The result is an interior that feels closer to a boutique hotel or private resort than a traditional yacht.
The upper-deck main salon spans approximately 200m² (2,150ft²), making it one of the largest guest spaces aboard the yacht. Deep sofas, freestanding furniture and distinct lounge areas break up the room into smaller social zones, while large windows run almost the full length of the space and flood it with natural light. Rather than relying on dark timber and formal detailing, the design uses pale finishes, contemporary artwork and bold accent colours to create a brighter, more relaxed atmosphere.
Throughout the yacht, de Basto introduced a playful and highly individual design language. Corridors feature graphic wall coverings, illuminated display niches and sculptural furnishings, while several lounges use coloured lighting and contemporary artwork to create a very different mood from the neutral interiors found aboard many charter yachts. The effect is modern without feeling clinical, with each area developing its own identity rather than repeating the same design theme deck after deck.
Entertainment spaces play a central role in the layout. The main deck includes a dedicated dining room alongside a karaoke lounge, while the bridge deck private salon offers a quieter retreat away from the larger guest areas. The variety of spaces allows different groups to use the yacht simultaneously without everyone gathering in a single room.
The wellness facilities occupy a substantial section of the upper deck and include a spa, gym and dedicated hair salon. The treatment rooms continue the yacht's contemporary styling, with custom furnishings, indirect lighting and an atmosphere more commonly associated with a high-end wellness retreat than a yacht.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the redesign is found in the guest accommodation itself. Many cabins use an open-plan approach, with vanity units, bathrooms and dressing areas integrated into the overall room design and concealed when not in use. This creates a greater sense of space while allowing each suite to feel less compartmentalised than a conventional yacht cabin.
Accommodation
Saluzi accommodates up to 32 guests across 16 cabins, a layout that reflects her origins as a passenger vessel and sets her apart from most yachts in the 70m (229.7ft) range. While many yachts of similar length are designed around 12 to 16 guests, Saluzi was rebuilt to host much larger groups without sacrificing privacy or comfort.
The two principal suites occupy the bridge deck. Each master suite benefits from its own private salon and direct access to an aft deck area, creating self-contained apartments within the yacht. Their position high in the vessel also provides greater privacy from the main guest accommodation and public spaces below.
Six VIP suites are located on the upper deck alongside the spa and wellness facilities, while a seventh VIP suite sits on the main deck. The remaining accommodation consists of seven twin cabins, giving charter groups and large families a broad mix of sleeping arrangements. This flexibility is one of the yacht's greatest strengths, allowing Saluzi to accommodate a wide range of guest combinations without relying heavily on convertible cabins.
Supporting the guest accommodation is space for up to 34 crew.
