VIDEO: Ninth Mulder ThirtySix Superyacht Begins Sea Trials Ahead of Spring Delivery

The ninth Mulder ThirtySix superyacht has entered sea trials in the North Sea following her departure from the Dutch yard’s Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk facility on 9 May.

After her launch ceremony in March, the Mulder ThirtySix yacht has now moved into one of the final stages before delivery, with the 36m yacht completing her first passage from the Dutch inland waterways to Scheveningen, where testing officially began on 11 May.

From Dutch Canals to North Sea Testing

In the days leading up to her departure, the Mulder yacht remained moored alongside the yard’s quay on the Oude Rijn, where her light grey hull, low-profile silhouette, and red-and-white bootstripe drew attention from visitors and locals passing through the area.

...against the backdrop of the Oude Rijn, her elegant lines and timeless profile naturally drew the attention of those passing by - a familiar response whenever a Mulder yacht reveals herself on the water."

The voyage marked the transition from final outfitting into operational testing, as the yacht navigated inland routes before reaching the North Sea for sea trials. Mulder described the passage as an important step toward delivery, moving the project from the controlled precision of the shipyard environment into real cruising conditions.

Award-Winning Platform Continues to Evolve

The Mulder ThirtySix series first entered the water in 2017 with the delivery of Delta One and has since established itself as one of the Dutch yard’s most recognizable platforms. The series has also received industry recognition at both the 2018 and 2024 World Superyacht Awards.

Exterior styling across the range comes from Claydon Reeves Design Studio, with the design centered around clean proportions, long flowing lines, and a restrained profile that sits notably low to the water.

For Hull 9, Mulder has carried forward several features introduced on sistership Seaflower, including the generous open flybridge arrangement that was praised by World Superyacht Awards judges in 2024. The latest yacht also introduces a Seakeeper 40 gyro stabilizer working alongside the model’s electric stabilizer fins to improve onboard comfort both underway and at anchor.

Hull Design Focused on Efficient Cruising

As with previous motor yachts in the series, Hull 9 features Van Oossanen Naval Architects’ Fast Displacement Hull Form. The hull platform has been developed to support efficient cruising across a wide speed range while maintaining stable handling and lower fuel consumption.

The superyacht is expected to reach a top speed of 17 knots, with the FDHF platform designed to deliver smoother performance during extended passages compared with more traditional displacement forms.

Where the ThirtySix Fits Within the Mulder Fleet

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, the ThirtySix remains the largest platform currently produced by Mulder Shipyard and sits above the yard’s smaller aluminum models, including the Mulder Favorite series.

Below the flagship model, the Mulder Favorite 2200 focuses on owner-operated cruising with a flybridge layout and accommodation for up to eight guests, while the higher-performance Favorite Fast takes a more speed-oriented approach with top speeds exceeding 38 knots. At the smaller end of the lineup, the Favorite 1500 offers a more compact modern-classic cruiser format developed around relaxed coastal use.

The news follows continued activity around the ThirtySix platform over the past year, including the sale of sisterships Castlefinn, Delta One, and Mana I, now renamed Josephine.
