The 33.07m expedition yacht Ammonite is being constructed by Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche and is due to be delivered in 2026. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Nauta Yachts, while Hydro Tec is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.55m beam and a 2.35m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 299 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the second yacht built on the Nauta Air 110 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in July 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

At 33.1m (108.6ft), Ammonite belongs to Cantiere delle Marche's Nauta Air series, a range created for owners who want genuine explorer yacht capability without the rugged, commercial appearance of a traditional expedition vessel. While CdM's Darwin series adopts the look and feel of a working ship and the Flexplorer line centres on heavy-duty cargo handling, the Nauta Air applies the same steel-hull engineering and long-range capability to a cleaner, lighter design with a much stronger connection to the sea.

Penned by Nauta Design, Ammonite takes clear inspiration from large sailing yachts. Her low, well-balanced superstructure sits comfortably within the hull rather than towering above it, while long horizontal overhangs, wide bands of glazing and restrained detailing create a calm profile that feels elegant rather than imposing. The clipped bow and gently rising sheer avoid the aggressive stance found on many explorer yachts, giving the yacht a timeless character that should age well.

Large windows dominate both the main and upper decks, reducing the visual weight of the superstructure while filling the interior with natural light. Wide side decks remain clear and practical for line handling and everyday movement around the yacht, reflecting CdM's focus on real passagemaking rather than marina life alone.

The aft section is equally well resolved. Rather than a working deck filled with cranes and tenders, the stern steps gently down to a broad beach club through an elegant cascading staircase that strengthens the connection with the water. The arrangement suits owners who value relaxed outdoor living as much as long-distance cruising, while still retaining the robust steel construction and dependable engineering that define every Cantiere delle Marche explorer.

Interior Design

Nauta Design also created the interior, allowing the same design language to continue throughout the yacht. Rather than the darker, more enclosed atmosphere often found aboard traditional explorer yachts, Ammonite adopts a lighter, more open approach built around natural light, soft textures and carefully chosen materials.

The interior takes its cues from a contemporary beach house rather than a city apartment. Natural timbers, woven finishes and understated detailing create warm, welcoming spaces that never feel over-designed, while the extensive glazing keeps the sea in view throughout much of the yacht. The result feels relaxed and informal without sacrificing the quality expected aboard a custom Italian explorer yacht.

As with the exterior, the emphasis is on flow. Interior and exterior spaces connect naturally through large openings, allowing the social areas to extend onto the decks rather than feeling separated from them. That philosophy has become one of the defining characteristics of the Nauta Air series and sets it apart from CdM's more expedition-focused models.

Accommodation

Ammonite accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with two additional Pullman berths available when required. The layout balances generous private accommodation with spacious communal areas, making the yacht equally suited to family cruising or extended voyages with guests.

The platform's 7.55m (24.8ft) beam creates impressive internal volume for a yacht of this length, allowing guest cabins and circulation spaces to feel notably larger than many explorer yachts in the low-30 metre range. Throughout the accommodation, the same warm material palette continues, maintaining the relaxed atmosphere established elsewhere on board.

Crew accommodation for five is arranged across three cabins, allowing the yacht to support extended cruising while maintaining the high level of service expected from a fully custom explorer.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18 ACERT) 715hp engines, motor yacht Ammonite is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 42,970 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
